Ok. Something is definitely wrong with me. I know that some of these things could be fibro related, but recently I have been thinking that maybe I don't have fibro at all, maybe I have something else, something that the doctors have missed. On and off during my life, I have had blackouts. No one ever found the cause. They go away for a while and then come back. Well, recently, I have been having them again, and I have been fighting to block them. It takes a lot out of me. Also, I keep feeling like my heart is either double beating or missing a beat every now and then. I feel confused a lot of the time, and my pain is getting worse. It isn't staying the same, and it's not getting better. Sometimes, the pain is so bad that I just want to scream. I keep running a fever, even when my pain meds help with the pain. I don't know what is wrong with me, but it is scaring me. I really don't know what to do. At my next doctor's appointment, they are going to do a bunch of tests, and I am going to have them test me for autoimmune diseases besides lupus and vitamin deficiency. But if these blackouts continue, I don't think I can wait that long. I have had tons of test done through my life. I've had ultrasounds, EKGs, CT scans, I've worn a heart monitor. But they have never done tests on my head. Maybe there is something there that they are missing. I don't know. But I am tired of feeling this way. My husband is really worried about me, and I am too. I could use some guidance.

I don't have any recommendations for you other than I think it is good that you are recognizing the things you have and are proceeding with more tests. By documenting as many things as you can for your medical providers, maybe it will help them hone in on something.

I am very sorry that you have to deal with all of this. Some days it does seem to be more than we can bear, but somehow, someway, we keep persevering (and praying for answers and relief to this madness!!).

What do you mean by blackouts? Do you pass out or just not remember what is going on?

Most of your symptoms could be from hypoglycemia but the fevers worry me. Have you been evaluated for Lyme Disease? The tests are not very accurate so it is difficult to get a diagnosis. Check out the Lyme forum here and see what you think.

I'm sorry Sassy. I don't have any advice, but I will put you in my prayers that the docs find out what is wrong with you and that it is easily treatable. I know it is so frustrating not to be able to get a diagnosis.

Sassy, I'm so sorry that you are going through this. As difficult as it sounds try
to stay calm...you know that worrying won't change the outcome.

It is frustrating having to wait to find out, so do what you can to keep yourself
occupied. I'm sure little Alex is keeping you busy :)

Hi Sassy, I think maybe you should see if you can get in with your dr. earlier. Fevers and blackouts doesnt sound fibro related. When you call the clinic ask to talk to your dr. or his nurse alot of times they can get you in where the receptionist cant. I will keep you in my prayers and please keep us informed as to what you find out.

By blackouts, I mean that I pass out kind of...it's hard to explain. It's like I know what is going on around me, but I can't respond. I can't even open my eyes. The last time this happened to me, they did a tilt table test and made me wear a heart monitor, but everything came back normal. I don't know much about Lyme disease. I'll do some research on it. I know in the past they have tested me for lupus, and I think maybe lyme disease as well. I don't remember. I have had so many tests done.

Sassy, if I were you, I'd see a neurologist.  This definitely isn't normal fibro stuff.  You need to find out what is going on.  I'd see a neurologist and perhaps a cardiologist, too.

In order to see a neurologist and cardiologist, I would have to get a referral from my doctor. I don't know if I will be able to get one. But I'll try.

You shouldn't have that big of a problem if you are having these blackout episodes.  He obviously doesn't know what is wrong so he should be open to referrals.  Let us know what happens, okay?

If your doc won't give you a referral, you might want to find another doctor. This isn't normal and you need to get to the bottom of it.

If you want to or need to stay with your doc, put it in writing that you are requesting a referral and if he denies one, you and your family will hold him responsible if anything happens to you that could have been prevented.

Another option would be to request a second opinion. Your insurance might allow that without you needing a referral from your doc.

Hi my Sassy!

Please DO get in to see a cardiologist as soon as you can. I have no idea what is causing these symptoms. All I can do is share things I know. Daughter Amy has fibro but also has something called tachycardia. When she has an 'attack'/'episode' she either comes close to passing out or does. She can't stand upright, gets incoherent and scares the daylights out of us all...so find a doc who will get to the bottom of the problem.

Thanks Mom and Dagger. I am going to do what I can to get to the bottom of this. My doc is pretty good about referrals if I ask for them, usually. My blackouts are weird because I can hear everything that is going on, I just can't respond. And then when I wake up, I don't remember blacking out.

I am definitely going to talk to my doctor about seeing a cardiologist. Today, my heat has been doing this weird beating. It's like it's beating hard and fast and maybe even skipping a beat every now and then. It's hard to describe. But, I will definitely have some tests done, maybe even have them make me wear another heart monitor to see if something is going on.

Saw your thread and not trying to diagnose but I had that skipping beat and like a hard thud in my hearbeat for years on and off, had tests, wore monitors and it finally came down to low potassium , now when I get it i take potassium pills for a few days and it goes away, NOT THAT YOU SHOULDNT SEE YOUR DOCTOR but maybe they should do a blood test with those kind of levels, just a suggestion.  Good Luck.

Potassium pills are the one pills I have a really hard time taking. They taste so nasty and are pretty big. But, then again, I've only had them in the hospital after spending hours puking. Not the best time to take horse pills.

Sassy please try to get in to see your doctor asap! Your body is telling you something is not right.

I have prayed for your doctor to have the wisdom to figure this out, and I'm sure he will see you need some type of referral.

I have an appointment in a little over a week. If things get worse, I will try to get in sooner, but, for now, I am just trying to hang in there. And I'm praying this next week goes by quickly. I appreciate everyone's prayers, support, and advice. I love you all here.
