Woohoo!!!
I just went to Disney World this past October and had a great time. I just took it really slow and took a lot of breaks. Many of the rides that my family wanted to ride (roller coasters, etc.) I couldn't ride anyway, so I would rest while they were riding.
I don't know if DL has the FastPass system like DW has, but we used this too. My hubby would go get the FastPass and then come back to me so I would only have to walk to the attraction once, when our FastPass time window
opened.
I did get a wheel chair in EPCOT. It is such a large park that is was killing me to try to walk it. Also, because it is so large, there was plenty of room to maneuver a wheel chair. I wouldn't recommend getting one in the smaller parks because of the congestion. I don't much about
DL, but if all of the attractions are close together, a wheel chair may not be necessary or may even be a hindrance.
I did find that there are ample places to sit and rest and lots of nice shops to wander around in or places to get a snack if you need a break from riding rides.
My advice is to wear comfy shoes, use a fanny pack or small cross-body purse (so your arms don't kill you), pace yourself, stay hydrated, rest often, and HAVE FUN!
Edited: I had to add one more thing. I found that it worked better for me to get a park map and start on one side and just follow it around back to the starting point. That way I avoided running back and forth across the park or backtracking. The fewer steps I had to take, the better.
Oh, one more thing I thought of. If you do end up getting a wheel chair, you might want to look into wheel chair seating for fireworks or parades. All of the benches are taken pretty early, and since I can't stand very long (I can walk longer than I can stand), we did take advantage of it in EPCOT for the fireworks. There was plenty of room for everyone in a wheel chair who wanted to use it and their families.
