Hi all,

 

Boy am I one lucky girl...it has been decided that Fibromyalgia is just not enough for me. I now also have .......Osteoarthritis.

This  means more pain...hands and knee joints and more meds.  I just feel so special. Also for the past 2 weeks I thought (as did the doctor) that I had a bladder infection. Nope...not good for me it turned out to be a fabulous issue that some women can get after meneopause and I get yet another drug for that.   Merry Freekin Xmas to me hahahaha:-(

I hope you feel better soon Lorraine. I'm with you on the arthritis and Fibro. I just started Gabapentin, 300mg at night for 3 nights then have 300 mg in the morning and at night. So far it has helped with the pain, but leaves me feeling drunk in the morning. Not sure if I'm going to like it or not yet. I'm going to give it a good try though. I really hope you find relief and have a very Merry Christmas!

Hi Lorraine, I do understand how frustrating it can be having one diagnosis after another piled on you. I too have the osteoarthritis. I cant take anything for mine though due to the fact that I had gastric bypass 7 years ago. They didn't tell me before the surgery that I would no longer be able to take anti-inflamatories or I might not have done the surgery at all being as the Celebrex was helping alot with my pain. I know the thought of more drugs is no fun, but you could try taking something like Ibuprofen, it is an OTC anti-inflamatory. It is not half as expensive as some of the perscribed drugs. Sorry that life seems overwhelming for you right now. I will be praying for you.

Lorraine, I'm sorry you have that, too.  I do have a little arthritis from Crohn's but not a full blown case.  I figure pain is pain and I'll learn to live with it.  Just be sure to do gentle exercises.  A water arobics class would be good for you!  Moist heat is great, too.  Hope you are feeling better and, yes, you can have a merry Christmas!

Hey Lorraine, I also understand your frustration...sometimes I think I won the
lottery of medical conditions, lol :) I got lucky and have both Osteoarthritis and RA
along with some other fun stuff.

In the past, I have found relief with Celebrex and then Mobic for the osteoarthritis.

Hope you find something that works for you!

Shirley, you have gotten me scared. I am taking mobic once a day for the knee issues. Before that I was taking 3-4 600 mg ibuprofen for the same issue. Now here is why I am scared........I too had the gastric bypass and no one ever told me that I couldn't take certain medications.

Why the anti-inflammitories and why because of the surgery?? What am I doing to myself??

Hi Denita, Sorry to scare you but they told me that the anti-inflamatories can cause alot of stomache problems being as the bypass makes your intestines so much smaller. You might want to talk to your dr. about this as soon as possible. Please let me know what he says about it. When did you have your surgery? Mine was 7 years ago and maybe things have changed since then.

Hi, Lorraine,

All this "stuff" can be overwhelming. Hopefully your doctors will be able to come up w/a combination of meds that work for you. Since May, I have been diagnosed with Fibro, Osteoarthritis, Asthma, and Inflammatory Arthritis. This is on top of high BP and high cholesterol that I stared out with. Sometimes, life just gets complicated. I try to take one day at a time and concentrate only on the ailment that is giving me the most problems at the moment.

Hi,

 

Thank you all for your kind words and great support. So far all meds seem to be getting along. I did have a headache for the first couple of days but that has gone.  I would love to go to a water arobics class but money and transportation are  huge issues for us right now.  A nice warm bath will have to do for now.
