Went to the doctor yesterday because I have had four visits from Aunt Flo in the past two months. I decided I didn't want to be on my pain pills, and I told my doctor. He set up an appointment with the doctor who does the Suboxone program. I will be going there Monday morning. Also, my doctor added Savella to my list of meds. I don't know much about this medication, but I hope it helps. Cymbalta didn't do anything.

I'm really stressed out about the Suboxone thing. For those of you who know me, you know this is a big deal because I had gone off of Suboxone a year ago and went back on my pain pills. Been having trouble with them again. So, here we go again. Let's hope it helps this time. I just want to be able to manage my pain. I just want to feel good enough to take care of my son.

I could really use some encouragment and advice.

I;ve tried Savella with no luck, but I have alot of probs. with medications..Nothing seems to work good for me. It takes more meds for me to find relief than others.
You said you;ve been on Suboxone, How did it help you? I too understand the fright of trying to get off meds..I;m dependent on Oxycodone and Morphine. I tried cold turkey and thought I was gonna die.
I hope you can find the relief your seeking, all we can do is keep trying. I wish you luck!!! Let us know how the Dr;s apt.went.. Merry Christmas to you and your son...Barbara

Hi Sassy just want you to know that you are in my prayers. Hopefully Savella will work for you. Im not sure what the suboxone does I have never been on it. I wish I could offer you better advice but I am thinking of you.

Suboxone is works like a narcotic in a way...it does help with pain. But it also has something in it that blocks other meds, like opiates and benzos, and keeps them from working. So if I were to take a lortab while on Suboxone, it wouldn't work and would probably make me sick. Suboxone is there to help people go off of narcotics and benzos and such because it stops the withdrawal. You have to get everything out of your system, but that only takes 36 hours, and then it is safe to go on the Suboxone.

why don't you take straight buprenorphine....? What is the same stuff but no naltrexone or naloxone.

and it comes in generic now.

i just hopped over to this forum because i wanted to ask what everyone was doing over here for pain.

I'm totally fibroed out in terrrible pain but found out I had lyme so I been posting over there.
i use 5mg oxycodone for break thru pain . not time release. and 1/2 mg of buprenorphine can make me feel ok and not have withdrawl from about 60 to 80 mg total a day of the Roxy.

I wouldn't get anything with the naltrexone. and morphine or fentynol patch doesn't take the big pains away and gets me more stoned and stupid.

I also take 20mg cortisone twice a day and am trying to knock that down so even more pain.

It gets complicated tryiing to find a "functional" coctail. I have hep c also so the liver has to process what ever we are taking. coffee enemas is a good pain killer too . Like on the days when my eye lashes hurt I know I am too toxed out.

Why would you be taking both an opiate and an opiate inhibitor??? No offense, but that makes no sense. Anyways, I am taking Suboxone to help with the pain while getting off pain pills. I build up too much of a tolerance. I have to keep taking more and more to get help with the pain. Suboxone helps with the pain and keeps me off the opiates, which saves my liver.

Sassy, are you noticing any difference at all yet from the savella? I tried it and that didn't go to well. Good Luck with the suboxone. Hope your Christmas went well.

Bucci, Are you treating yet for the HCV? I treated and cleared, thankfully. Sorry to hear about all the parasites........I made the doctors check me for all kinds of things including parasites before my fibro diagnosis. I am around dogs and horses a lot. Good Luck

Hello sassy I am on suboxone because i can not take pain meds due to addicition to easy to addicited. I was diagnoised with fibro/severe depression in 2004 and as soon as i saw the rheumy she strated pumping me full of pain meds. before this i never took pain meds at all!! I have an addicitive personality, so that is why i had to go on the suboxone. I take only tyelnol for the fibro now and does not help, but the suboxone helps a little with pain.  I have been clean from pain meds for 7 months almost 8 and it has been he-- , but i have no energy, i am working on that. I take lexapro for the depression and it helps somewhat, have good days and bad days with the depression of course the depression is always worse when my pain level is up!! I know what you mean when you say that you just want to take care of your son. I have a 22 month old and that is all i want to be able to raise him successfully!! Hang in their and if you have any ideas about how to help with energy please let me know!!

I have never tried methadone. I would have to drive about 30 mins each way to get to the methadone clinic, and I don't have the money for that. My sister takes it and it is a huge help to her. She has a lot of back problems and she had a lot of problems with pain meds because of it. The good thing about my doctor's office is that they know I am just really dependent on them physically. I mean, yeah I am a little addicted mentally, but they know that I just built up too much of a tolerance for them. So they don't really treat me like an addict, which is nice. I like the Suboxone. It really does help with the pain.

I take Subutex for my chronic pain (suboxone without the naloxone) and it works great for me. I was wondering if you use the tablets or the strips? And if you use the strips, do they work better then the tablets?? Right now I take the Roxane generic Subutex, and I had to raise my doasge several times cause I felt like I wasn't getting enough medication like I was with the brand name, but I can't afford the brand Subutex.

But Im confused about what was said about the benzo thing...you CAN take benzodiazipines with Suboxone/Subutex, it doesnt block them at all or is it used for benzo addiction at all. Actually alot of doctors prescribe the two together all the time...mine doesnt as I guess it can cause overdose really easily if abused.
