Lexapro And Tramadol Okay To Take Together?

Anyone else taking Lexapro and Tramdol together?  I read there is a risk of Seratonin (sp?) syndrome.  Both these drugs were prescribed by my rheumatologist.  I only take 10 mg of Lexarpo, but I generally take 200 mg of Tramadol a day.  Thanks for any info/experience you may have with these two drugs.

Drug interactions
Inform your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, especially of: carbamazepine, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), drugs used to aid sleep, antidepressants (e.g., SSRI-types such as fluoxetine or fluvoxamine), MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), psychiatric medicine (e.g., nefazodone), "triptan"-type drugs, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), sibutramine. Also, report the use of certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine) which are also present in many cough-and-cold products. Do not start or stop any medicine without a doctor or pharmacists approval.

Hi Vannie and. I don't take Lexapro but do take zoloft. I usually wait 3 or so hours before I take any tramadol. I don't take the tramadol everyday or on a regular schedule as I am somewhat afraid that the tramadol will quit working. Good Luck

Tramadol and other SSRI's don't mix well. Talk with your doctor...in addition to the increased possibility of experiencing a seizure you run the risk of developing Serotonin syndrome, a potentially fatal complication. Your doctor can provide you with better guidance.
