Hi everyone. 

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I can't say so much for myself.  The past 3-4 days I've been in terrible agony with gargantuan swollen ankles and feet and severe heel pain.  My ankles look like I'm 9 months pregnant!  I'm taking all my drugs (ibuprofen, vicodin, amitriptyline, cymbalta and flexeril).  Nothing seems to be helping.  Unfortunately, my job as a vet tech, requires me to be on my feet for 10 hrs at a time.  I recently started working at a new vet clinic last week and already had to inform my coworkers of my health issues.  On top of everything, I got my bloodwork back from my rheumy.  It took 2wks to get it back.  My parvovirus B19 is still elevated after 10 months  redface    AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!  We rechecked ANA, RA, Lymes and immune function.  All are normal again!  He can't figure out why the parvovirus is turning chronic and doesn't know what to do!  I'm really at the end of my rope!  I can't get pregnant until the parvo is gone and it's killing me to wait this out.  Many drs don't believe that cronic parvovirus exists and on top of that, I can't even find a dr who can figure out something to help treat it and make me feel better.  I try to keep my spirit up and be happy, but the pain and swelling in my legs, ankles, feet that travels all over doesn't seem to help my mood.  Does anybody know where I can find help????

I don't know much about parvo, and I am going to look into it. I just wanted to say that I hope you are doing better today and not feeling so bad and swollen. I know that your kind of work is very demanding and that can't help much with the swelling. Hope you are better!

Yes, it's me-the OTHER vet tech. :-)   Please tell me how parvovirus manifests itself in a human.  Also, how does your doc think you got it?  Just wondered.  I totally understand about being on your feet all day.  I'm on disability now, but I remember those nights in the ER where you are just running. sad   So, even though this probably doesn't help, I feel your pain.  Remember, you've got a fibro friend who really does get it. :-)

Ask your doctor for a prescription for some compression stockings or at least get some good support hose. You MUST put them on before getting out of bed which is very inconvenient but the ONLY way they will work correctly. This will help with the swelling. Putting your feet up every time you sit down will also help. Interestingly enough increasing your water intake will often lower swelling, too. Good luck with this.

Fibro/Parvo Girl, my brother after being ill for 6 months just got diagnosed with Parvo, did not even know humans could get it, He told he they were going to give him something that would clear it up, I will try and call him today to see what that is and if I find out I will post it for you to check out, I can imagine how you feel he had to close his Tavern down as he got so weak.

Fibro/Parvo Girl, I just read your post and wanted to ask you a question relating to being a vet tech. I was diagnosed with fibro in July and am starting school tomorrow to become a vet tech. What a small world that fibro is. Do you have any advice for me doing that kind of work and fibro? Right now, I am more concerned with getting through school and my lack of concentration,memory, etc,.

Sounds like it's related to Fifth Disease and not something transmitted from animals, strictly a human disease. Phew! I was a vet tech for a while and hoped this was not something I could have picked up!

   I finally talked to my brother, he is taking Immune Gobulin for the parvo and getting better, he got so bad he had to have blood tranfusions every month for the last six months, you might want to ask your doc about this.
