OMGosh! I had it about a 10 days ago, actually it went through the whole fam like wildfire, even the 3 yr old. Nothing like sitting on the pot with the wastebasket in your lap cause it's coming out both ends! I got to the point that mopping up barf with bleach water was an everyday thing. Ok, so we all got over the barfing and diarrhea... but the sore, ripped up intestines don't just heal overnight. It's almost 2 weeks and my poor body thinks it died... Whaaaa! (I think I need some cheese to go with my whine!)

Anyway, stay out of stores and churches if you can. Soap & water will kill it but alcohol sanitizer doesn't stop this virus. Best to just avoid people if you can. If you get it, sipping Gatorade will help keep your electrolytes up. 1/2 banana and some soda crackers will help, too. Don't get too excited about eating solids right away or you will end up with bloody stools. This version of gastroenteritis is one tough bug to beat.

So sorry your family all had this! This is the one that runs rampant through cruise ships. My sons doctor said it spreads so easily because you are actually still contagious for about two seeks after you have had it and people go back to work and school and spread it around.

My son got this when he was around five - right after he had been on antibiotics for ten days! His body was depleted of good bacteria because of the antibiotics and he almost ended up in the hospital he dehydrated so quickly.

Oh, Jeannie, I got that on a two week cruise!  Talk about miserable.  Didn't even have my own bed and all I could see was water all around me. 

 

I became dehydrated so be sure to drink a lot of fluids.  We can't drink Gatorade because of the sugar but Propel is like Gatorade with just a fraction of the sugar.  I carry that with me when I travel.  You can get it in bottles but I buy it in the individual powder packets...like Crystal Lite....and they are easy to pack.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Jeanie, sorry you had to go through this too on top of everything else, but I am glad that you and your family are feeling better now. I sure hope it stays away from my neck of the woods. lol I will be praying that it goes away totally for you soon.

Jeannie, I am so sorry that you and your family have had to go through this. It is hard to care for sick children when you are not feeling up to par yourself. This virus had to be particularly hard on your 3 year old!
