Has anyone tried Lyrica?

 Hi everyone...... I went to the doc today and she wants me to try Lyrica. Is anyone eles taking this? If so, is it helping at all? Do people gain alot of waight with this?

i tried it and it made me a bit crazy, i could not even do basic math. i felt stoned and loopy with the drug but i know people who love it and it works for them, best of luck,

I tried it for awhile, but did not receive enough relief to justify the out-of-pocket expense. In addition, I did experience a slight weight gain while on it. Everyone is different, so we all have to try things to see what (if anything) works for us.

I recently had to discontinue my Savella because of intolerable side effects, which was unfortunate because this was the single med that provided me with the greatest pain relief. I guess I'll have to wait to see what they come up with next, but in the meantime I wish you well in your journey.

I used lyrica for three months.  It took away the pain.  Most of my pain is in the right foot and leg.  Pain was gone only the tingling feeling remained but I decided to stop using it because it seems to be a serious drug and I figure down the road a few years there will be lawsuits about serious side effects.  I don't like taking drugs at all.  The first few days I was on lyrica,  I was hyper, silly and had a drunk feeling but that was only for a few days.  Since stopping it I feel pain every day.  Some days are worse than others but I do use vitamins and supplements.  My doctor wants me to start a homeopathic regiment that he has seen help patients but it is expensive about $200 per month not covered by insurance so right now I can't afford it.

I was on gabapentin and lyrica at the same time and when i switched to my new rheumy he took me off of the gabapentin he said that i shouldnt be taking both at the same time. i am still on the lyrica i take 150 mgs 2xs a day and it really does help with the pain i have had some weight gain of about 10-15 pounds though but i want to continue on taking it because it does help i tried to ween myself off of it and the pain hit me like me brick wall good luck if you do decide to take it like everyone here says we are all different but i feel a whole lot better with taking it.

Hi all, I have fibro, I am on lyrica, and love it, it has taken care of my feet pain to the point I can wear my shoes. Live was miserble before lyrica. I was on gabapentin and it tore up my stomace real bad. I take 150 twice a day. If I stop taking my feet with burn my big toes will hurt and feels like electral pain. I still have some stomace problems but the prolic takes care of that. I am on other meds that causees weight gain so I watch what I eat and walk when I can.

I'm just curious, what kind of side effects did you have while on Savella? I had a few in the beginning but nothing major. My hands were extremely shakey for a few weeks and I experienced some nausea, but it all subsided after a while. Are you taking anything now that works for you???

I have taken Lyrica for a few years and it works well for me.  The first week is kind of weird feeling mentally.  But, that gets better.  I did have weight gain, about 10 pounds.  The one thing to be careful of is getting off of it.  I tried to, and had SEVERE restless arms!  It was terrible.  As soon as I got back on it, I was okay again.  My Dr.  thought I was crazy, but it was not something I imagined.  I tested it out again and the same thing happened.  It was just about unbearable.  Anyhow, while taking it, I do feel better.  I hope it will help you.  God Bless and take care!

Immense jaw pain/tension (around the clock -- far more exaggerated than my usual TMJ symptoms) and horrific headaches. The first time I tried Savella in September it felt like they were squeezing a vice-grip around the back of my head and tightening it more and more each day until it was ready to literally explode.

I read about people on SSRI's that had similar symptoms which were relieved when taking the SSRI in conjunction with buspirone. Mentioned it to my doctor and she decided we could try the Savella (SNRI) with the buspirone. It did take the side effects down a notch, but still they were at an intolerable level. We titrated very, very slowly and I think this time I was on it about 4-5 weeks before I gave up.

Both times I went on Savella I had some nausea, but I could deal with it. The first time I had lots of sweating -- not as bad the second try, but still there. As far as if I have anything right now that works? Unfortunately, no -- other than taking percocet when the pain is at its worst, and I'm completely paranoid of addictions with meds like that so I really try to keep usage at a minimum.

Like many of the rest of the people here, I'll just keep plugging along and see if I can find "my answer" in the midst of all the trial and error.
