In need of a little encouragement

Hi all, it's been a while since I've logged in. My computer crashed and finally got it back up.  I've been flaring since Christmas, I know it's from the cold like all my fibro friends. But I'm noticing more trouble with my hands lately. I write all day at work by midmorning my hands are hurting so bad I'm having trouble holding my pen. Unfortunately, I have no options as far as my job goes-it's either do it or quit. And I can't afford to quit or try for disability right now.  My neck and back are killing me and I honestly don't know how I made it home yesterday because of the exhaustion. Sorry to have a pity party but I'm very much alone with my dear disease here as my hubby and family want me to take a magic pill and can't understand why the fibro medications advertised on tv don't work for me.  Thanks for letting me get it all off my chest..

I am so sorry that you are in such a terrible flare. I had one that started around july and lasted until just after thanksgiving. they are not fun and not having support from family makes it even more tough to get through.

I really don't have any magic words to help make your situation any better but I just received this message/poem from my friend and it made me laugh.

Maybe a good laugh will help.

I too am sorry that you are flaring. I have been having more pain and fatigue with the weather we have been having. Know that it wont last forever.

Hi Saintsfan, good to see you! I'm sorry you are feeling so crummy.
Are you sitting at your job?...just thinking maybe you can use a moist heat, heating pad on your chair.

Denita, love the poem; maybe I'll post it on the fridge. Thanks for the support gals, it means so much to know someone understands. Robin, I am on my feet all day at work. I work in an eye practice as a tech so there's no sitting down unless I'm at lunch. If we're caught taking a break for a minute the supervisor will assign even more work to do. But must keep pushing on, and on, and on. Thanks for all the kind words.

I too have been "flaring" for what seems weeks, today is better.

I never knew the cold would affect symptoms but I sure have wondered. We try to keep heat down as we are in deficit mode but I have been turning it up to 68 and I wonder if I feel better.. I can headly stand to go from the house to the car, I literally scream, "how did the Indians do it?"

Maybe this very frigid cold has played a part in my latest relapse, better today, not even musle jumping and thumping.

That 'hot wax stuff' hurts my hands. It used to feel good, but now only causes more trouble. It's called paraffin, not sure of spelling though. The physical therapist had me dip my hands into a container of heated liquid wax a few times, to coat them in layers of soft wax. Once it cooled, he would gently peal it off and leave my hands in a comfy towel for a few minutes. It was something to look forward to, each session. Now I stay away from it, although it may feel good for any of you Fibro is funny that way.
