Has anyone experienced this?  My left foot is hurting and is so sore to touch.  Even a blanket resting on it hurts.  It is the top part of the foot and it travels down to my toes.  It spasms and the pain is closer to the ankle than the toes and it wraps left and right to the foot.  It is so sore that sometimes it hurts to wear shoes. Does anyone experience this with Fibro?  Or could it be a stress fracture?  or something else?  I am overweight.  What do you think?

Yes I have pain in my right foot.  It is squeezing, numbing pain. It started in my big toe.  That was my first symptom of fibro.  But in addition my sciatica nerve is inflammed so the pain is now from my foot to my back. 

I have to see a spine specialist next week and my dr thinks I need a epidural steroid injection to get the inflammation down because the strong NSAIDs I have been taking is not working.  I also have a bunch of diagnoses on my right foot from the foot dr and he told me fibro and foot problems go hand in hand many times.  He has tried all sorts of treatments to help the foot pain and nothing has helped.  Right now the pain is terrible but I think if I get the sciatica pain under control I can live with the fibro pain.

Hi Lisa, Im not sure if this is the same kind of pain, I dont remember it hurting just to have a blanket over it but I do remember that for a long time I coudn't wear shoes because it felt like I had a vice grip on my feet. The only thing I could tolerate was oversized slippers. even now the only time Im not in slippers is when I have to go somewhere. As soon as I get home the slippers get put back on.

I think though if your foot is giving you so much pain that you cant even stand to have a blanket touch it then it is worth having checked out by a dr. I will be praying that you get some answers and relief soon.

Lisa, this sounds like what I've been having since December!  The pain actually starts right under my left ankle bone and will wrap around the top of my ankle and the top left side of my foot.  I had x-rays and have no fractures so my doctor said he thought it was tendonitis.  I think it's fibro because sometimes it burns.  But there are other times it will be fine.  Does this sound like what is happening to you?  I'm curious, too.

 

I seem to have foot problems every winter.  Last winter my doctor thought I had gout but it lasted for six months!  Nope, not gout.  I think that, too, was fibro.  I get these weird things and if I wait long enough they go away on their own and something else pops up!

This pain happens every so often and it lasts a while. I also wonder if it is a stress fracture but it is not swollen or bruised. It hurts when I walk and if I twist my foot slightly, a sharp pain happens!Nothing really helps and if I put pressure on it, it hurts alot. Sorry for the whining. I am debating whether I should go to the dr. for the pain. Last time I didn't.

Lisa, that's how my foot is too.  Sometimes I can barely put it on the floor but I have found that if I gently put the inside of that foot down first and slowly "roll" my foot flat, the pain lessens and then I can walk on it.  Sometimes it doesn't bother me at all but many times, when lying in bed, it will ache like a toothache and sometimes burn.  Very strange, isn't it!

Absolutely! Kept me up all night last night. And I could not get comfortable. It spasms and dies away. My pain heightens then goes to a achyness. It is funny that a foot can cause so much pain!

Lisa I have it around my ankle joint and it aches and aches, and the only way I can explain it it wraps around to the back and front, not just in the joint but all around..... rolleyes

When it happens I just think great here we go again.

Hi Lisa, I had a stress fracture on my foot a couple of years ago. There was no reddness or brusing. The foort doc took an x-ray which showed nothing. He had me come back 3 weeks later and sure enough there was calcification where it was healing. It hurt like crazy. I hope you figure out what is going on with your foot.

Would a stress fracture give you pain spasms?  My husband wants me to get crutches and stay off of it.  Will that work?  Is that what you do?

If it was me, I would get an x-ray just to be sure.  When I did that the doc had me wear a brace on my foot.  Kinda like a boot but not bulky.

Thanks GSDgirl. I have a dr. appt today to see what is up with the foot. The pain has radiated to my big toe. I wonder if the pain in my toe is because I scrunched it up while I was sleeping. When you had your stress fracture, did you have spasming pain? I think that an air boot is what I need. And I will try ice instead of heat.

I can't remember is I had spasms as it was a few years ago.  But I do remember my toes hurting due to scrunching them up trying to change where I put weight.  Let us know what the doc says

Ok ...I didn't get any answers. Went for an X ray and will get the results tomorrow. She said it could be the Fibro or it could be inflammed muscles. Advil worked for a little while today but the pain is back now. Debating if I should take the muscle relaxant. It worked so well last night that I didn't notice that I was clenching my big toe. Tonight my mother said that I focus too much on my pain and my husband sorta agreed. OK maybe I do but when I hurt, it hurts! And they say that red heads experience more pain in general. I don't know. Guess I will wait until tomorrow. Not sure what else to do.

They didn't even give stress fracture a second thought?  How long has it been hurting?

I think that they took the xray to check for a stress fracture. It has been hurting since Sunday. I don't remember hurting it though.

When I had a stress fracture the foot doctor took another x-ray 3 weeks later looking for calcification as a stress fracture does not show up until it starts to heal, that is what the foot doc explained to me.  That is why I asked how long ago it started hurting.

No stress fracture...Just Fibro and muscle spasms. Keep icing it, rest the foot and Advil...Fun!

Yep, that's what I'm doing too...except I'm not icing it.  It is getting better....slowly.

OK...now I feel silly! I woke up this morning with no pain in my foot. A little sore to the touch but it doesn't hurt when I walk anymore. Is this the works of Fibro? It comes and goes as it pleases! And should I expect it to return as the day goes on? What joy...something I can look forward to. Like I said...Now I feel silly yet again worrying about a pain that mocks me and goes away as suddenly as it comes.
