I had my surgery tuesday morning and came home wednesday morning. I was supossed to get the left thyroid out but they had to take the whole thing. as he was taking out the thyroid a small cancerous nodule was found on the back of it, so out came the whole thing.
I wont know till my follow up exactly what is going to be done about it. the doctor told my hubby and daughter that I may have to take a radiation type pill? but he told me that it was contained to that one nodule and taking it out will take care of it. But, the lab results will tell for sure. My appt is the end of next week. and, of course, I will also be taking a thyroid medication for the rest of my life.
this is my first day actually getting up, showered, dressed and going out. I feel a bit wobbley and so, so tired but otherwise doing really good. I think the constant round of pain meds has been keeping the fibro at bay because the only thing that really hurts is my throat. I am glad for that.
all in all, I will say that the surgery was a success and no additional issues reared their ugly heads.
will keep you posted.
