i just finished reading some posts and i could cry cause i'm so happy that i have found people who understand. right now i'm "flaring" and you all are the only ones who will be able to empathize. one thing i'm wondering that my dr. doesn't get is the feeling of flu symptoms along with increased pain. do some or all of you have this with a flare? i guess i could have, at least, said hello first but i was just so happy to have found this forum-----so "hello to all".

Hi 4dognight, welcome to our fibro family where we know how hard it is to deal with all the pain and many other things that seem to walk hand in hand with fibro. I have heard so many others talking about the flu-like symptoms when they are flaring. I dont have this myself I get mostly pain and brain fog.

I am glad that you found us, be sure to check out fibro 101 at the top of this forum. Sherrine put a bunch of links there with tons of info on fibro. Always feel welcome to ask questions, vent when you need too and help others when you can.

Hi 4dognight, (love your name!) welcome!

I do get the flu-like symptoms, sometimes with increased pain, sometimes when I've just pushed myself too hard, and sometimes for who-knows-what-reason. Mr. doctor just says, "yep, that happens, and we don't know why." So I try to just let it be, with varying degrees of success.

thanks for the reply, acheybody. this flare all began with just that-pushed myself to the max last wed. when we lost power and i had to manuever a heavy generator. it was a long 12 hr. day that started at 5am and i was truly exhausted. i always get the flu symptoms when i flare and a couple days in bed are called for. i am gonna try the magnesium/malic acid thing i read about and am wondering if this has worked for others?

Welcome...I too was thrilled to find this site. To be able to talk to others who actually 'get it', and understand what I am saying.
Wishing you luck with everything. Fortunately (or not), I don't get the flu like symptons - but my pain can become completely unbearable when I flare, which is happening quite often because I just don't know how to say no, or how to say 'when', when I've actually had enough...I'm trying though!

4dognight......love your name!!! Welcome to the forum. I get the flu like symptoms, I have them right now. I have been overdoing for a few days myself.

Speaking of dogs (my favorite subject LOL) I pulled all the beef liver, heart, kidney and old deer meat from my moms freezer and cooked it up in my biggest stock pot for my dogs. It took all day, put the pot in the fridge overnight and I have no idea how it overflowed but it did. All over my fridge blaaa. always something

Hi, welcome to the forum! I get the flu like symptoms too. I get chills and all over body aches. I have had this most days since this all started six years ago.

To me this aching is the worst part! I hope your flare lets up soon.

I am new on here to and I'm so gald to have found this sight. I don'y have flu symptons and found the fibro 101 has been a great help. Lucky for me my daughter is a Nurse Practitioner Student and she is the one who has caught this. I have been to doctors and I felt like I was going crazy and now I know that I'm not. I have the night sweats, body aches, fatigue, fog head, tingling in fingers, migraines and the latest severe pain in the arm.Somedays are better than others but I'm still breathing. I know that there are others worse off than me and I'm thankful I have a great family support. Oh am I am a huge dog fan.lol So glad I now have people who understand..

Been there, done that, with the unexpected event forcing me to do too much work....

Yes, flu-like symptoms are quite common with FM. I'm just getting over the flu, so I can tell you from experience--the real flu on top of FM is just UGH!!

GSDgirl, I'd hate to be the one to clean up after that mess, LOL!

thanks all for the welcomes and sharing. it's still amazing to me that i found you all--PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for 20+ yrs. i've struggled with family and friends who look at you without truly understanding (not their faults), now i can know you all understand. although, i'm so sorry you're all here. does that make sense:)

I am fairly new as well. I am in a flare right now and experiencing exactly what you are. Hang in there! Reading these forums helps me to know that I am not alone.
