Hi, misplaced, and welcome! I'm glad you found us and joined the family. It sounds like fibro but it also can be other illnesses to because fibromyalgia has a lot of the same symptoms as other illnesses. I see you were directed to Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There is a link there called What Else Could It Be. Read that. These are the illnesses you need to have ruled out before a diagnosis of fibro is given.
If I were you, I'd find another doctor. I see a board certified Internist but many see a rheumatologist. Whomever you see, ask if they treat fibromyalgia patients before you set up an appointment.
I'm not a doctor but I do know that my doctor says that 2,400 mg of ibuprofen is the highest safe amount to take. Online I've seen 3,200 mg as the highest amount. No wonder you have ulcers and that can be very dangerous. I have taken ibuprofen for my fibromyalgia for 24 years. I did get one ulcer but that was because I was taking it without food. You need to eat something when you take it to help protect your stomach. Anyway, when I got the ulcer, I was put on Prevacid for a month and only took extra strength Tylenol for the pain. I tried to only use Tylenol for about eight months but I needed the ibuprofen...badly! So, my doctor now has me taking Prilosec. Prilosec, he said, will protect the stomach against ulcers 70% of the time. I liked the odds so I'm doing that and so far so good. But it is important to get those ulcers healed up.
When my children were little, they would fool around and give me a playful swat. Well, it felt like they hit me with a sledge hammer and I thought I would be bruised for sure. Nope. Never got bruised, so I do know what you are talking about.
I, too, get the knots in the muscles. I see a massage therapist who gives me a GENTLE massage and it really helps me a lot. My MT is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. In order to be a member, they have to continue taking classes and learning many different techniques in massage. Right now she is taking a course on massaging cancer patients. So, these therapists are really good. Here is a link to find one in your area if you are interested.

Be sure to read Fibro 101. You will learn a lot there. There is a link to Symptoms. Also links to malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D3 supplements. These have helped quite a few on this forum. It's worth talking to your doctor about.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. I hope to hear more from you soon.
