I gave myself a good belly laugh this morning...because of the high dose prednisone I'm on, my face is really huge now... a big ole moon face.

After my shower, got dressed...put on a pair of jeans and a black turtleneck sweater...went in the bathroom to do my hair and caught my reflection...I swear I could be Uncle Fester's (Addams family) twin sister.

I laughed so hard my belly hurt. In my younger years, I would of shed tears of sadness over this...maybe the older you get the less vain you become! I'm off to do some shopping now...keep your fingers crossed for me...later this afternoon, I go in for my biopsy and "new hairdo."

I love your big ole Moon Face!  I am like you...who cares anymore?  I have these huge shingles scars on my forehead and my eyelid droops, plus I lost all my eyelashes when the scabs fell off.  I had to laugh at myself also as I tried to brush mascara on my bald eye.  It is what it is! yeah

Thinking of you, my friend, and good luck with the biopsy.

Good Luck this afternoon Robin!  When I first saw the thread name I was nervous you already went in and they took off a lot more hair than you thought they were going to smhair   Glad to hear that wasn't the case.

I hear you about losing your vanity. My daughters (and before she died, mother) could never understand why I use a 10x magnifying mirror. Why would I want to stare at all my imperfections, wrinkles, discolorations, etc?

Because I've already had 2 basal-cell carcinomas (cancers) on my face, and I want to know what's growing there! Aside from that, as you get older and your vision goes hooey, how else do you get eyelashes out of your eye or pluck your eyebrows? And on the rare occasions when I wear make-up, I can see what I'm doing better.

I have to say I love the Addams Family - snap, snap. lol  That was a big hit when I was a girl. My friends called me Mortica. My best friend was Uncle Fester. So that brings back nice memories for me.

What also brings nice memories to me is to think of the lovely lady who started this post.

I see a kind woman who shares her joy with us, who shares her pain with us. She is always there to lend her support and her wisdom. Always kind! No matter the 'do, I see a beautiful woman. Nothing that happens today will change that.

My prayers are w/ you as you go in for this biopsy.

I always loved the Addams Family.
I was always Cousin It. I'd brush my long hair over my face, put on glass. But didn't stop there. We had an album with Tiny Tim singing Tip Toe Through the Tulips. Didn't stop there, instead of playing the album on the 33 speed we put it to the 45 speed so his voice was even weirder. It was the best. lol
Sorry to all the younger people that have no clue what I'm writing about.

My fingers are all crossed and you are in my heart. Also I hope you bought something just for yourself when you went shopping.

Good Morning smilewinkgrin I still look like Uncle Fester's twin sister but lucky to report my surgeon is a good barber, I don't look punk.

The biopsies were done in the operating room and performed while I was awake. It was relatively painless. Getting the shots in my head was the only discomfort I felt.

Afterwards, looking in the mirror, I was reminded of an abstract Picasso painting...my features on the left side of my face did not match the ones on the right. I was happy to see my face symetrical again.

The surgeon performed the biopsy on the temperal artery and did decide to do another biopsy...a skin punch biopsy on a lesion near the hairline. The punch biopsy allows the whole thickness of the skin to be taken...it contains blood vessels, nerves, sweat glands and hair shaft. Hopefully everything he took will be able to provide the answers they are looking for. If I do recieve another added Dx...I'm dealing with it like the others...yup..one day at a time! My goal is to "keep on keepin on", have fun and enjoy life!

Robin, I do hope the results are in your favor and it is not GCA. Isn't the moon face lovely? You haven't been on the steroids too long and hopefully you won't be on them long. They also add weight around the mid-section and the upper back. Feels like I am washing a strangers face with the steroids.

Hi Robin, not quite sure how I missed this post yesterday, sorry I wasnt here to offer you words of support before you went in. Know that I love you my friend and I am so relieved that it is over for you. I will be praying that the test results will give you answers but that it wont be majorly serious.

Alice said it so right, you are such a wonderful source of support to all of us and no matter how you look you will always be beautifuly to us.

By the way I have been on prednizone too and my daughter looked at me the other day and said "mom your face looks swollen" I went and looked in the mirror and came back out yes its swollen but it kind of hides all the wrinkles. lol

Shirley, you are my inspiration...and I love you, my friend!

My head looks like a giant helium balloon, with out much definition between my face and neck. One of my friends is concerned that my neck being so swollen...she thinks I can't breathe and is always asking me, if I can breathe turn . My wardrobe is becoming limited because I continue to gain weight....I need some padlocks for the refrigerator and cupboards...hoping they can start tapering soon... 40 mgs is high for my weight and I never thought I would wish to be back on my methotrexate.

Next week is a busy one for me...I see my rheumy, neurologist, opthamalogist, and surgeon, next friday and flying out to Wisconsin on Saturday for 2 weeks to visit family and friends. I'm traveling alone this time...hubby can't get away from work. I need to rest up, i'm still flaring but stubborn and nothing will prevent me from going! It would be nice to have test results before I go...but not holding my breath...whatever it is...it is what it is !

I'm glad that ordeal is over, ((Robin))!! Now you can do what you do so well: get on with it!

Looking forward to your trip will undoubtedly give you extra energy. I know it always does for me.
