I have a few questions involving Lyrica for treatment of what we may think is Fibromyalgia. I have been in chronic pain for now almost 16 months now and the past few months it has been quite debilitating. I am only 18 year old healthy male, work out every other day now but was couch ridden every other week or so. I try to fight through the pain thinking working out will slowly help me get back into things but it appears no help. I do yoga, swimming, meditation, attuned diets, magnesium and fish oil supplements, the whole shibang.
I have tried Cymbalta (up to 120mg), lyrica, seroquel, etodolac, zanaflex, physical therapy, chiropractors, acupuncture, massages, and pinpoint injections and still no relief. I am at a 9 in my pain level and was recently given Lyrica to try to help.
I was told to start at 50mg for a few days and then go to 100mg. The first day I took 50mg and I felt amazing, my pain went from a 9 to around a 7 which being at such a terrible any relief seems amazing. I thought it would only get better. 2 days later I went up to 100mg and noticed not much more relief, I am now up to 150mg and back up to a pain level of 9. I was given quite alot of examples because my doctor has a good amount of trust in me. Today I tried 300mg desperate to see if dosage would fix anything but I went from about a 9 to an 8. I don't want to have to take up to 600mg a day for just partial relief and I dont know if Lyrica should get better with time.
Should I continue to try to take Lyrica or talk to my doctor about other methods? I probably will continue it as it does have potential to take minimal pain away but not enough. Any advice sounds great!
