Hello everyone!  Sorry I haven't been on for a while.  I have a question for you ladies and...men?  I have been seeing these tempur-pedic bed ads on tv and wondering about getting one because of the pain we all feel in one place or another.  For me its my hips down and my spine.  I think it could help to comfort me and my husband works on his feet all day so he could do with it too.  But when I looked at the price for any of the types and the sizes they come in its ridiculous!  I can't see spending that much for something that MAY last 10 years and not 20 or 30 like I'd like because than its worth my money.  What do you fibromites say?  shakehead    I want to be comforted like a baby in it's mother's arms, but not for that.  I just don't know if I should put the money away or not.  Can you all help?

Hi Arianna, I would love to have a tempurpedic bed but like you said they are very expensive. I have heard some really good things about them. They also have temperpedic bed toppers that you can put on top of your mattress. Not sure how much they cost but that might be an idea for you that you can afford. Hope this helps.

It is funny that you bring this up because I acctually just got a new mattress. It is not a tempur pedic but I did try one of those and I hated it! My husband and I were looking for a new mattress and went to a really great mattress place I saw the tempur pedic beds and got really excited, so I tried one out and it was really uncofterble! I was dissapointed cause I had heard so may great things about the bed! But everyone is different the matress guy said that you either love it or hate it that seems to be what is going on. The bed was not for me I guess! But who knows it may work great for you! Everyones body is different! I really love the mattress that we did get but still waking up sore even though it is so comfy! I did not get the name brand Tempurpedic. I could not pay the almost $4K on the bed we looked at. I did however find one similar with a great guarantee and we love it. It takes the pressure points off of my hips and shoulders when I am on my side.

I love to 'belly sleep' and that can still cause me some back trouble because I sink down into the mattress and it allows my back to bow too much. Other than that, I love it and so does my husband.

We couldn't afford a tempurpedic so I went to an upholstery shop in town and purchased a king size bed piece of 6" firm bed foam. Bought a 2" memory foam topper at Sams. Put both of these on top of our old mattress. Cost about $168.00 total. Benefits= The bed is 8 inches taller and SO MUCH EASIER to get into and out of, not to mention easier to make in the morning - no bending! Bed firmness is perfect! Not so soft that I can't roll over but easy on my pressure points. The cost alone makes me feel better :-) At times i do feel like the Princess and the Pea but that's ok.

I had thought about a tempur-pedic bed also but when I looked into it I discovered that I wouldn't be able to use my heating pad because it would damage the foam. I've gotta have my heating pad at night so decided against it. After that I actually got the chance to try one during my sleep study and it was terrible for me. I got up in the morning with pain in places I never had pain before. Lee

Hi there, I have owned two termur's at this point. The first I purchased about 8 years ago and it was a very thick but firm feel. I really liked it in the beginning, but it never did what they had advertised to to, still the sleep was finally better that in years past. That bed as I said was think and very firm, it also held heat. My husband hated it and we finally just gave it to my children. about three months ago I was tring to find something again that would help me sleep, I am tipically up most of the night an live on about 3 hours sleep a day. I spent a month looking at the Tempur "cloud" mat. I finally bit the bullet and bought it. For the 1st time in more years than I can count, I am sleeping, most nights through the night. I am still up a few nights a week but am able to lay down durning the day and actually sleep some. This bed is a thin, soft but supportive bed. It's not hot to sleep in and my husband, who has some back issues as well, loves this bed. I could not believe I was going to spend the money on this brand of bed after the 1st experience. I would not trade this bed for anything short of a cure. You do get a 90 day trial and can return it. Just don't let them take your bed away, store it in the garage, extra room whatever. If you turn out not to like it, you can return and continue looking. The "Cloud" is awesome. I would recommend it to anyone that asks.

OMG.... I absolutely LOVE my tempurpedic!!! I could never do without one again!! true, it's not perfect and I still feel some pain, but it is sooooo much better than what I used to have! I also have a tempurpedic pillow. the one downside is that it makes it hard to stay at hotels since we are so spoiled now! yes, they are more expensive, but we didn't buy the top of the line -- there are different price ranges. Everyone is different though. the one nice thing is they let you try it out for a month and if you don't like it, you can return it.

I don't have a temperpedic, but I do have the memory foam mattress and a memory foam topper. Mine came from Costco. I absolutely love mine, but I had to have the topper. It was not as comfortable without it. They seem to work together. My husband also likes it. Mine was less than $1000 for both the mattress and topper. You can view them online. I have had mine for about 3 years and it still looks and feels like the day I bought it. I think my mattress was $700 and the topper was $150.00 for a King size. I don't think I will ever go back to a regular mattress.

We have a Comforpedic and I've told you about it in a different post.  However, it cost a lot of money and I know people can't afford it. 

My in-laws bought a bed from Sleep Design (the Mimi) that is a VERY comfortable bed.  I believe they only bought the top mattress (I could be wrong, though) and it cost around $600.  The Sleep Design website isn't very good, but you can call them to get the name of dealers in your area.

Got a note from my MIL about the bed I mentioned above. 
The brand is King Coil and the mattress only cost $669. It is really comfortable.  I have problems sleeping on just about any mattress and I loved this mattress.

Best think I did to sleep better was move into my daughters room when she left. I had been sleeping on the couch for over a year and working full time. Ladies when the time is right move into your own room. Decorate it like you want and watch your own TV programs on your own TV. No more hockey for me. LOL. I think the Queen has the right Idea.

Our bed was old but we could not afford a new one. I bought the 2 inch gel foam topper at the large warehouse shopping store, and absolutely love it. The pain in my shoulders and spine dropped from 10 down to a low 2-3 within days. When I do get a flare up I am thankful I have the topper since it cushions so well.

Hubby is used to it and liking it. Kids all want to be in our bed since it is so comfy. I bought the gel pillow too with the indents for under the neck. Love love love it.

All said and done it was only a 200 dollar investment instead of the whole bed at $1,000.00's

Hi everyone. Reporting in about my very short Tempurpedic experience. Went bed shopping yesterday and after lying around on various beds, I was finally choosing between one of the Temps and a Simmons Beauty Rest. The salesman was very high on the Tempurpedics and said they didn't wear out much. So I said ok and bought a pillow too. Bed to delivered over the weekend but took the pillow home to try it out. about 10 min. of using the pillow did it. I was scratching the skin off my body I was so itchy. Really didn't like the chemical smell either. So I removed the pillow and felt better.
Experimented with it again this morning and got the same reaction so I guess Tempurpedics are not for me.
Am going with the old-fashioned spring mattress. Just thought I'd share that.

Like Aubgirl, we got ours through Costco. We bought the one with the temperature control foam that is supposed to help keep you cooler because my husband gets hot easily. It has made a world of difference for me. We paid around $900 including delivery for a king size. I wouldn't go back to an innerspring mattress for anything now. But I also can't bring myself to spend $3000 for a mattress either. It's been about 3 years, and it is still as good as new. It did take a few nights to get used to because it is a different feel than a regular mattress, but to have those pressure points relieved is amazing. I definitely recommend Costco because of their return policy if you are unhappy.

I inherited a TempurPedic, and have been sleeping on it for 4 years. I put an "egg crate" pad on top of it, and now it works perfectly for me. The Tempur material alone isn't good because it seems to suck you down into itself, so it's hard to do things like rolling over. However, the combination of the TempurPedic bed with the pad on top is perfect, because I get support with more freedom of movement.

So there's my experience--make of it what you will. :)

I got the Tempurpedic Celebrity bed a couple of years ago and I'm completely in love with it. It's not as awfully firm as some of the tempurpedics. I sink and sleep like a tiny baby all night. It's been absolutely fantastic, I've never slept so well in my entire life. You just have to find the right kind for you.

I love my tempurpedic.  They are pricey but Mor furniture will sell one at 0% over 4 years. yeah

We thought about the Tempurpedic but when I laid on one, it felt like it was swallowing me up. I ended up with the softest pillow top they had and put a pile of foam on that. Heck on the sheets but I love my bed. It's like sleeping on a cloud. Um ... I did find the comments on Amazon about the Temprpedic beds quite helpful too (oddly enough). Lots of people recommend some kind of topper over them due to heat, that kind of thing.
