Started it today due to back pain. I have osteoporeses (spelling) and have several past fractures in my back. I was just told I also have degenerative disc disease. I am in a lot of pain, not sure how much is the fibro. I went to my first pt appt today and have to go 3 times a week. I told them I am sensitive to pain due to fibro. I have a lot of strength exercises for my back. I am about to leave for work and have been home for about 2 hrs. the heat they use is wearing off and starting to hurt again. Any suggestions for the therapy? I can not take strong pain killers due to sensitivity to them. An ibruprofen can make me sleepy. To top it all off, I have a bad sinus infection and it makes me feel like crap!

I have been xrayed and mri on cervical spine, xray of lumbar. Dr found that c5 & c6 were ruptured disks and later found that there were two degenerating disks in my lower spine. He did not diagnose anything but "mabey alittle arthritis" and "bad disks". He is an orthopedic surgeon, ready to retire.
He refered me to my rheumetologist who diagnosed fibromyalgia. He said I have arthritis in my spine but that he did not know what was wrong with my wrist (main source of pain), mabey osteo artritis.
He refered me to a surgeon specializing in hand ortho. He stated I have nothing wrong with my wrist but a "long Ulna" and that I do not have arthritis... (He was a jerk too, never reviewed my charts or numerous xrays/tests/mri's... just took his own xrays & charged me!)
They all want me to do therapy. I did it for my back when my neck first went out in 2008 and it did help but I cannot afford the time or the copays. If you can do it you should, at least long enough to learn the exercises that will help your particular problem areas. I have cronic sinus problems, surgery in 2009 on deviated seprtum did nothing to help, but then again I have environmental allergies. I know that I can expect a flare EVERY time I get sick and sometimes instead of getting sick! Rather like a cold sore that my mom will sometimes get, I will get the flare instead of the syptoms that everyone else who is sick around me has with one or two symptoms ... just to let me know that I DO have the same thing. Get some anitbiotics, rinse ur sinuses, steamy showers and some tlc :) hope u feel better!

Another day of therapy. I understand about the stupid drs. I had a dr say I have psorisitic arthritis. He was a smart *** with a terrible bedside manner. I hated him after talking to him a few minutes. My dad had taken me the first time so I had hubby go in the room with me the next appt. He spent more time fussing with dh about his weight then listening to me. I asked his lab tech if he was always like that and she sd yes she had heard a lot of complaints. Found out later he had left another practice wonder why? Another dr sd i had traumatic arthritis due to old motorcycle wreck and I did not have the symptoms of the other one..

More stretching exercises. They worked on moving my legs in different directions that moved my hips a lot. LOL Called dh on way home told him his "fun time" with me this week did not look promising. I often have hip cramps during crucial times and from the way I felt after the stretches, prob could count on that happening.

As for copays I have a 350.00 ded and then 10% copay for PT. Letting me pay a little as i go or I can wait and set up budget plan later. Really nice office.

I have done physicak therapy quite a few times in the past and I never saw any relief. My Rheumy strongly said no PT, no rubber bands, gentle stretches and water aerobics would be the best and I believe him after past experiences.

I gave up on PT until I can get to the pool
