Hi, Woodanemone, and welcome! I'm so glad you found us and joined in. I think you will like it here.
Because of your psychological problem, there could be a reason they don't want to give you narcotics....especially with your reaction to Lyrica. For all of these doctors to say this, there must be a reason. You should ask what it is. Perhaps they are concerned that, with your other health issues, addiction would be a big concern. Trust me, Wood, you don't want to go there (addiction).
I don't use narcotics for my pain. I use ibuprofen with food, extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D3 supplements for my pain and fatigue. Then I add stretching exercises, walking and/or swimming, and getting gentle massages. This regimen has worked well for me for a couple of decades.
I have the Bed Buddy for the neck and it's the best. I bought the slippers for my daughter but she only uses them occasionally because you can't walk in them. If you were going to sit down and watch a movie, then the slippers would be fine. I don't know a thing about the gloves. I also have a bed buddy-type thing my massage therapist gave me one year for Christmas. It covers my shoulder and back like a shawl. These do help if you are in a lot of pain because they give off moist heat. Hot showers work great, too.
Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum. There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there. There are links about the vitamins, supplements, and the stretching exercises there also.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. I hope to hear more from you soon.
