I'll try not to bore you with too much information...For the past year, I have weaned off of SEVEN prescript
ion medications, mostly for fibromyalgia, but two were heart related medications (taken off by my cardiologist). I have also been using a "Happy Lamp" to aid in getting vitamin D and lifting mood. Two weeks ago, I had my blood work done to check cholesterol levels, thyroid and vitamin D. EVERY THING is normal...this has never happened, not in over 20 years. For the past 3 or 4 years, I have not been able to get my vit D within normal range, now it is well within normal. Back then I was on 300,000 units of prescript
ion D a month, a ridiculously high dose and still could not normalize the D, now I am on 2,000 units a day of OTC D, and it is normal.
I cannot help but wonder if all those prescription medications were at least some of the cause of the blood levels being so off?
Whatever the case, I am thrilled.
Do I feel better, as far as fibro is concerned? Honestly, pain is about the same. I think fatigue is better, but that I attribute to a better night's sleep...off of Ambien, Flexeril and Ativan and now using magnesium, melatonin and zinc...yes, sleeping like a baby, and I fall asleep within 10 mins of getting in bed.
I am truly amazed and wanted to share it with the rest of you.
Please remember if you do decide to get off prescription meds, WEAN, WEAN, WEAN and only with the guidance of your doctor.
be well
Miriam
