Anyone take Cymbalta for Fibro??

Just started taking Cymbalta for Bipolar II and Fibromyalgia.  Anyone have luck on this med? Appreciate feedback!

Yes, I was diagnosed with fibro this past November and have been on Cymbalta ever since. It has helped a lot for me but everyone is different. The only side effect I've had is insomnia. I started taking melatonin for sleep but then night time muscle spasms started. I ended up taking Zanaflex and melatonin at night. I sleep better for the most part.

I tried Cymbalta but it gave me a manic/hyper feeling and I couldn't fall asleep for two days. Scared me so no cymbalta for me.

I am sorry that you all had sleep trouble. I was given it for bipolar II and told that it would help with Fibro, so far a small amount of relief with my depression and no pain relief for fibro, only on week 3 fingers crossed. I take it at night about 8 pm. I have trouble falling asleep at first due to the pain in hips, etc and toss and turn, and in the beginning I would wake up a lot during the night starting Cymbalta and fall right back to sleep, weird how drugs affect everyone differently! I really need this to level me out with bipolar episode I am having, and then working with fibro would be a major plus.

Be careful with Cymbalta, I quit it after 5 years and the withdrawals were terrible...lasting a couple weeks.

I just starting taking Cymbalta so I have no experience to share with you yet. I will however, share my experience once I get a little more of the medication in my system. My doc told me it would help me sleep better. Last night was the first night I took it and I actually did sleep a little better than I usually do, but then again I was exhausted yesterday too. So I am not sure if it was the Cymbalta or me just being exhausted beyond belief. Good Luck with the Cymbalta.

I was on Cymbalta for 6 months when I was first diagnosed with Fibro. I also took Celebrex and Hydrocodone and sometimes Ambien for the insomnia. It worked for a little while, but not long. I didn't have any side effects other than I lost 25 pounds! I know several people who have done really well on Cymbalta. I have recently seen television commercials out for Cymbalta and chronic pain, so I guess it's been approved for this use finally. When I took it, it was still just considered an anti-depressent. Good luck, but no matter what... DON'T GIVE UP!

I have taken Cymbalta for fibro.  It was prescribed to me so that I could sleep.  Unfortunately it was not the drug for me.  I did not see much of a difference and since then have been prescribed different meds on and off to help me sleep...Xanax, Lunesta, Ambien and Rozerem.

Well....I found out that it was not the Cymbalta that made me sleep better. I was just purely exhausted. I guess after not sleeping for weeks at a time, the body eventually just decides its had enough. The only thing the Cymbalta has done for me so far is give me severe nausea. I hope it works better for everyone else than it has so far for me.

I have been on cymbalta for close to a year now and would not be able to live without it. I tried a couple of times to start it but the side effects were very strong so I would stop. I finally took a leave of absence from work, and within a week or two (on the lowest dose to start) it started to work, and the side effects went away. I am now up to 60mg a day, and will take it forever. I am a true beliver in cymbalta...
