I started working for a chiropractor about
6 months ago. Up until then I got adjustments only when in real pain. Now, I get them for free, so I get them regularly. the doc I work for believes in the activater method (small vibrations to acupuncture points specific to your body), but he also does manual adjustments depending on your preference. I never really "believed" much in them and thought it was just a waste of time, cuz they always want you to go sometimes up to 3 times a week if you're in bad shape, but now, having read so much and seeing different patients' cases I now can understand how it's extremely healthy. Cuz, really and trully every nerve in our bodies is connected in some way shape or form to our spine and if it's even out of line a little bit it could cause pain. Now, as far as it hurting after you get an adjustment. Yes, that's true, it happened for me too, however, it's because you're in bad shape, just like when you work out to lose weight, and/or get in shape, it hurts! Getting adjustments is like getting out a mini-wiork out on your spine. That doesn't make us stop working out though....you just gotta keep doing it till it doesn't hurt anymore and just becomes routine. I hurt up to 2 or 3 days after my adjustments for about
....4 months (cuz I'm 37 and have not been consistantly going, yet do have back and leg and neck aches) But now, it feels SOOO good, every single time.
Here's how I explain it to patients that ask me about
the activater method: I say, you can get a manual adjustment but that's just a temporary fix, the activater method is more long term, it is slowly and gradually putting all those little bones and nerves back into place.
Something else people don't realize is that chiropractic adjustments not only help your back, but they also help your headaches, leg pain, knee pain, carpal tunnel (my coworker has that and gets hand adjustments), it helps almost every ache in your body, you just gotta TELL your chiro what you need. I think it's important to find a GOOD one that knows and believes in what they're doing. Mine also does nutritional consultations to where he can do certain tests on acupuncture points to see how sensitve you are and he can tell what supplements you're lacking in.
Anyway, just had to throw that out there cuz I did go from a nonbeliever to a believer and this may just make someone's quality of life BETTER!
P.S. Most ins companies cover adjustments.
Love and hugs,
Blondie
