I had finally found a combo that is working wonders for me and that is zoloft in the am 150mgs and Seroquil in the pm @ 50 mgs.  My insurance company has decided that they will not pay (or cover cause I pay $50.00).  The letter that I got says that it should be given at doses of 150 mgs to 800mgs  only for schizophrenia, bipolar and depression.  Also it is a problem if it is prescribed for only 60 days at a lower dose.

It doesn't make any sense to me, maybe he can prescribe a dose of 150mgs and I can cut it into 3????  I will see him on Tuesday and will find out his plan of attack.

The ins companies make me crazy!!

Sorry Denise, leave it to your insurance company to be the one that ruins something that works. Hope you get it worked out soon.

That's really crummy!  You'd think they'd be glad you are on a lower dose because it's less for them to fork out!  Did you check other drug stores or Walmart to see if it possibly is on the low price list?  You can get drugs really cheap that way.  It's worth a call.  You can then get that particular drug there.

I would ask your doctor about free samples too. My husband's doctor supplies one of his meds. I have PA Acess (state insurance) and we got a letter a few months again stating we are only allowed to have 1 drug per class.

Woodanomone, I guess you live in Pennsylvania.....I do too. My doc is great about samples but they never have seroquil.

Sherrine, This med is one that I pay 30.00 for, not the 10.00 like on generics and I have a feeling that I won't get it anywhere very cheap.

I just don't want to run out and have to go antideperessant withdrawl.

I agree that one would think 50mgs would be better than 800mgs (that they have no problem paying for) phoey!!!

Hi  I have taken seroquel for five years. Without insurance it can run $250-300 per month. I get 30 300 mgs and cut in half. Astra Zeneca also has a pretty good patient assistance program. You can check it online and download the appkication. It really knocks me out at night...don't just stop it, it is not fun. Good luck

GSDgirl, Seroquel comes in 200mg tabs. I have not had problems cutting them into quarters, although my doc was not too sure about it at first - he was worried the dose would be off. He also might be able to prescribe you 3x50mg per day, but usually insurance companies don't allow that.
