I just checked my calendar for next week...3 doctor appointments...the neurologist, rheumy. and cardiologist. It seems like I'm forever going to some doc.

After next week, I will have seen my differant specialists a total of 21 times since the beginning of this year. I don't even like to think what we shell out for co-pay for all the testing I'm constantly being put through.

I shouldn't complain, these docs have kept me out of the hospital and I'm grateful for that. When people ask me what I do for a living, I joke that I'm a full time patient, turn

I was thinking of pitching a tent.

This is why I got a "high deductible" insurance. I paid up my deductible in February. There are still co-pays, but no premiums, no more paying for tests and therapy after the deductible.

I have been maintaining so I only go to the doc every three months, and psychologist every other month. But I have to get blood work done a week before my appoinment. So it will seem like a lot. Fasting bloodwork too. Just to check blood sugars. They were a little high last time. But not by a lot. So he wants it rechecked.

I am rambling again. I feel bad for those who have to go a lot. I am a little anxious about going to the doctor so I go as seldom as I can get away with.

I just try to "cram" all my appointments in one day, or at least two in one day. In a month even. It's pretty much 3-4 months schedule. B/w the Rheumy, Dentist, two GIs, PCP, Eye Doctor, Dermy, umm. yea I have a lot of cramming and some more :(

I think my doctor has paid off her yacht because of me! :) I have many specialists too (Rheumy, GI, Derm, Eye...I think is a few more in there but I only see them randomly). But hey, at least I get to claim my co-pay's on my tax returns :)

Thats how I was feeling everyday I either had a Dr appt or blood work or other test and I was exhausted. I had no appts this week and it was such a treat and so far only one next week but the following week might be busy. Oooops as I am writing this I just realized I am almost out of meds and will need to go to Dr this week as well, darn, better start writing my list of things to discuss with my Dr.

I hear your complaint and have the same one. I go to my primary once every 4 weeks. He's in charge of my pain control, the UC, diabetes and others maladies. At least I was able to have him do much of it after seeing a specialist. Have a new 'issue' I'm dealing with so off I went to another new doctor. I don't think it ever ends unless I put on my shoes and just start walking....just kidding...lol

I did tell my doctor once that between the insulin, finger sticks 5/day, pain and other medication I feel like all I do it poke and pop pills and it's not a life I like. We chuckled since there just isn't much I can do.

My kids tease me saying I have more docs in my phone than friends. In my defense, we all have different docs and dentists (insurance reasons) and everyone's doc is in my phone.

I see that I'm pretty lucky at the moment in the Dr's visit department. The Dr.(my gyn) that dx'd my FMS and CFS is the only Dr that I have to see. He was already on board to begin with. But he did say a rheumy could be in my future. Does that sound right for FMS and/or CFS? But I know that as time passes on and as I age the dr's visits will pick up.

 

This past week I have noticed both wrists have been hurting. It started in the right one and by yesterday in was in both. The pain isn't constant but intermittent. And sometimes when I move my wrists, I get a slight little tingle in them. Kinda like a very mild wave of electricity. This does not hurt when it happens. It's just very interesting. I'm only pretty sure it will all go away in a few days (or weeks) only to be replaced be something else! turn

Boy can I commiserate with this one! I had four doctors appointments last week plus I had to go in for fasting bloodwork. Only one appointment this week, woohoo! I see my primary care doc, a sleep medicine doc for sleep apnea, a psychiatrist for anxiety/depression, and a physical therapist right now (and eventually a multidisciplinary pain team) for my back pain, and a gyno for endometriosis.

I was diagnosed back at the beginning of May, and my doctor has been pretty proactive, so it feels like a lot of medical intervention. I'm on meds 4x a day (naproxen, zantac, gabapentin, b complex, magnesium, celexa, zyrtec, trazodone, straterra), am using ice on my knees and hips once or twice a day, and twice a day physical therapy exercises. It all adds up to quite the routine every day just to keep myself on track.

Dagger, your comment made me laugh out loud. My husband was just looking in my phone over the weekend for someone's name that started with D. He looked at me and said, you have a ridiculous amount of Drs.

I also feel your pain Robin. I was at my internist so often 5 years ago before and during my diagnosis that the receptionist at the office got to know me. He got to know me so when that whenever I go in now he still remembers me by name. My husband was shocked when he saw that. He figured with such a large practice that even over time they would forget people's names. The receptionist even got my name change right away after we got married. When I'm lucky enough to not see the Dr. for a few months the receptionist tells me that they all missed me around there. Oh the life of living with chronic illnesses. Don't we just love it!
