Hi Gang,

Has anyone been put on Trazodone or trazadone, I may have misspelled.  I am on a very high deductible and my cymbalta is 396. for 90 pills..I paid it last month but I thought it was for a 90 day supply..you know us fibromites get things confused!!!  so I asked my doc for something much more affordable. I've been on this for a few nights...I am starting with 50mg at night because it makes you very drowsy. I've read it is good for insomnia, which most of us have. I have been waking up with a slight headache. So, tonight I took my dose with some ibuprofen. I'll let ya know how that works for me..

Just curious if anyone has tried it and what your comments are?

It works for me. I take it for reasons other than fibro and have used it for over the past 5 years. It is not addictive, habit forming.

The ibuprofen should help The side effects will leave.

I tried it way back, 20 years ago. It helped with the pain for a week or so, then stopped. Who knows if it would have helped if I'd tried longer - I switched to Nortriptyline and that worked better for me.

I was on it too. It worked at first, then I had to take more and more. Major
hungry. I would get up and eat. Not good. Hope you don't have that side effect.

It use to be used as an old anti-depressent. They use it for sleep, especially for people that have addiction problems. Ambien and sleeping pills can become very addictive. Ambien is a barbitute. Trazodone is good because you dont have those withdrawals as bad as ambien. Over the yrs. They had to bump me up on Trazodone dose. When they did I guess it mixed wrong with a anti-depressent I was taking and caused me a grandmal seizure. It caused me to have PRESS syndrome. My bran swelled. Neuro dr told me that Trazodone has the properties of anti-depressent and I was taking another one for my depression. It was those combinations that did it. I would bring it to your dr. Mind if you are on another anti-depressent. These dr's get in a big hurrry an don't think. I am a retired nurse and I didn't know. Hope I didn't scare you

Thanks everyone for your info. I did take ibuprofen last night with it and didn't wake up with a headache but wow did I have some nightmares!! hopefully that won't last.
I am weaning off the Cymbalta so far so good..He said to start with 50mg and that if I felt comfortable that I could go up to 100mg and see how that works for me. I was taking 90mg of Cymbalta.

Trazodone didn't work for me. My doc gave it to me for insomnia and hoped it would help the pain. 25 mg did nothing, 50 mg made me a zombie for the next 24 hours. I had weird dreams with it also, which I was told is a side effect. I hope you continue to get good relief with it!

Last night was better...slept really hard, took it with the ibuprofen and prayed for peaceful sleep. NO nightmares, thank you Lord!! Did have wierd dreams but that I can handle..and NO headache this am.
