Hi, Sunshine, and welcome! Heheh Just thought I'd give you an idea. These members are correct. You want to feel good about yourself and positive thinking does help with pain. Honestly!
I'm so glad you decided to "unlurk" yourself and join our family. We have wonderful members that love to help one another and, as a bonus, we really do care about each other, too. I think you will like it here.
You were actually diagnosed in record time! I know it doesn't seem that way but there are a lot on the forum that went to doctors for several years before they got their diagnosis so it sounds like you have a good doctor there and right on top of things! That's great.
I use a couple of supplements that help me with pain and fatigue. One is malic acid/magnesium supplements and the other is vitamin D3. You can have your vitamin D levels checked to see if you are deficient in it. Many are. I was and I now take 5,500 IU of vitamin D3 a day. I live in Florida so who would have thunk!
There are links about these supplements and vitamins in Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum. You will find a lot of info about fibro there. Other good links to start with are called Symptoms and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. You want to learn all you can because we are our own advocates for this illness. And, no, this is not all in your head.
Lastly, you need to keep moving with fibro or you will be stiff as a board. I do gentle stretching exercises (found in Fibro 101) and I walk and swim daily. I always have less pain and more energy after my walks. Also, I pace myself with doing things. The work will all get done but in a different time frame.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. I hope to hear more from you soon.
