The thing that scared me is when we have brain fog, how do we know, (since the Dc.s don't know) what the long term thing it's gonna do with our brains.

That is so scary to me. That scare me more than anything.  

Does anyone know.  I know this is looking way to far in the future, but I just don't won't Fibro. to get worse in the brain.

We have folks on this forum who have had fm for 20 or more years and most of them seem less "fogged" than me-lol.

I think that just likeexercise helps our condition, mental exercise is very important too. They say the best thing to do for an aging brain are crosswords, word search, jigsaw, reading, playing board gamesetc. It also keeps me from thinking too much, which leads to further depression and anxiety.

I am 58 and have a 14 yr old daughter. My new project is a combo photo and memoirs written by me about my family history. This is fun, brings back good memories and leaves a great gift for my daughter and her children.

So stop worrying and go buy a crossword book-lol

Thank you maggie. Maybe I will get a crossword puzzle. I am kinda new, and still working on excepting this. How long does it take. I knew I have had something for years and years. It will mess your head up, knowing that this is the way it's gonna be.
I am 51 and still have a great life and family. I know things could be alot worst, and am grateful for that.
I is just depressing to me. boo hoo
I have so much gulit! I need to be working. I feel burned out though. Been working very hard since I was 16.
Just need to get it passed me. The denial thing.

Fibromyalgia has been around for centuries but called different names.  So, don't worry about the fog.  We would have known by know if it would get so bad we couldn't function.  I'm 64 and can still use my brains.  I do try to do games that help with thinking...like Bridge.  Sudoku is another good one.  Just don't worry.  That makes the fog worse.

Hi Marilyn K I have had fibro for many years and at 72 I don't feel more forgetful generally than anyone else I know my age. I do have moments of brain fog as we all do but I don't feel that fibro has impaired me cognitively.

I keep active with volunteer work, produce a newsletter for a group I am part of, I write, read extensively, do crosswords keep up on community affairs and just maintain a real interest in life in general.

Don't be afraid of aging, the best is yet to come!

Margo, to funny. The kids will start to ask me a question, then they stop and say , don't ask mommy she don't remember. Until I learned about fog, I thought I was getta a little dummer!!! At least I can blame it on Fibro. LOL

My brianfog dissappeared after I was properly diagnosed with lyme disease, Bartonella and Babesia (co=infections of lyme). I had a very abnormal brain SPECT scan which clearly showed areas of inflammation in my brain due to the infection.

Once I treated this with several months of antibiotics it was gone. Turns out the "Fibro" I had was really lyme. Of course, the doctors didn't know that at first as my tests were negative. I finally had to find an LLMD (Lyme LIterate MD) trained my ILADS. The LLMD gave me a proper diagnosis and got me well.

Today..NO MORE BRAIN FOG!!!!

I was diagnosed with fibro last year.  From what I understand, brain fog is often tied to neurotoxins in some way.  There are herbal products that can help with this.  I've taken some from the NutraMedix line and had improvement.  Another thing that helped me was getting my amalgam fillings removed and detoxing from mercury under the supervision of my MD.  It substantially improved my mood and my foot and TMJ pain.

I can't lie what has happen to me . I suffer from cognitive problems to the point that I don't drive. My testing came out poor. This was very disturbing to me when we got the results. I guess I kind of knew that I wasn't right. I always am losing concentration. I am only 46 yrs. Old. I am trying to read which is real hard to remember, but hopefully I am keeping some brain cells alive. This I pad has helped because I have to think and remember how to beat the spell check. Lol.

Hi Marilyn I have the fibro fog too and I'm 48, my sister has had fibro for 26 years and she's a icu nurse so don't worry too much ok....by the way I celebrated my eleventh wedding anniversary last year and ive only been married nine years but the funniest thing is my husband thought we had been married for eleven years too and he hasn't got fibro...lol
