I've been kidnapped by aliens!

At least, that's what I keep telling people.

I talked to my doctor about my progress with fibro, which some days is VERY good, and others, not so much. I told her the lidoderm patches help with everything but my shin. We talked about it a bit more, and she suggested sending me for xrays.

A couple days later she calls - come in, got your xray report back.

I go in, and she tells me yes, there is a reason for my pain - which scares me to no end. She then says I have MULTIPLE OLD Stress fractures. How old is old she couldn't say. They did not heal properly. Then she tells me I also have a FOREIGN BODY in my leg.

Huh? Really?????

Now let me be clear - I have never needed stitches for any reason except surgery. I have had 2 laprascopes, and I've had one knee surgery and one bunion surgery. Oh and a bladder surgery.

Both the knee and the bunion surgeries are on the same leg, but the knee is not the shin, and the toe is not the shin either!

I have no scars from the knee scar all the way down to the ankle where I have a burn scar from when I was 1 and pulled a coffee pot on me. The foreign object is in my lower shin.

I now have to see an orthopedist... boy isn't that fun. So I keep telling people it's either a government conspiracy or I was kidnapped by aliens and they microchipped me!

I'm betting the breaks were from when I was in the military - they told me I had shin splints, but betting it was stress fractures. Had them in both legs, and the right leg is starting to hurt some too. Guess it'll be something I have to live with, but I intend to file disability with the military for that if it's that old, cuz they also missed the stress fracture in my ankle at that same time (basic training) and told me it was a sprain - I found out that was a fracture six months later when I ended up in a cast. But nobody thought to xray they shins, and I was 18. What did I know? :D

They're coming to take me away, Ha ha hee... Oh wait, they already took me away and microchipped me too!

LOL yeah, it's the weirdest thing ever. I did have surgery on the knee back in 1984, and it was as the scopes were just getting going, so the doc wasn't quite as talented as I needed, so he had to cut it open. I don't know if something could go all the way from knee to lower shin without me noticing it though. I know there was a stitch left behind, but doubt that would show up on the xrays. Not almost 30 years later.

And yeah, speaking of fibro fog, I went to see Harry Potter. Now mind you, I did all those books on audio - 26 hours that last one was. I didn't remember hardly anything as I watched the movie, it was like it was all brand new. How embarrassing when hubby says "They changed this and they changed that" and I'm thinking "I don't even remember that from the audio book".

Tonite I started dinner but forgot to turn on the stove. Luckily something just keyed me into it and I ran in and turned it on before hubby noticed so he'd not do the head shake thing again. I did that once, about 2 years ago for thanksgiving. Dinner was a TAD BIT late that year! Like 3 hours late!!! Ooops!

LOL It's gotta be a tracking device. I mean, why else put one in there? I'm smart, ya know. A genius! Tracking me would be the best things the aliens could do. They learn tons about... Uhm. Wait... I can't remember. Oh yeah, I could teach them how to train dogs! I know that's why they did that! LOL. And don't worry, I find this quite amusing. NOt worried about it at all, figure it can't be too bad, it's been there for.... however long, anyway. LOL.

Speaking of dogs, dropped my boys off at the kennel so we can take our trip later tonite. I miss my boys!

actually there's not a single scar on that leg. I'm sure at some point I've fallen off a bike as a kid and gotten gravel in the wound, but usually in cases like that, there's a scar there. The only scars on that leg - my knee from surgery, my ankle from a burn, and my toe from surgery. Nothing in between ankle and knee.

Ok, I've seen my xrays now - I have my doc appt tomorrow morning. It appears the "foreign body" is in the knee, not in the shin - so that makes sense. I'll find out tomorrow if they are going to do anything about it, or just leave it, since yes, I have trouble with that knee. I actually expect, after seeing my xrays that the doc will say "Nothing we can do about that shin, but let's talk about that knee". It looks HORRID in the xrays!

It's strange how these things can show up on xrays, and we never have a clue as to how they got there. Several years ago, I took my mother, who was then in her mid 80's for a CT scan. After assuring the technician that she had had no surgeries, metallic objects, etc. in her body, she took her in for the procedure. After just a few minutes, the technician called me into the room, looking very puzzled. She had needed to stop the procedure because she had discovered that my mother had a very long, straight pin embedded in her head! She then began to show my mother and I the xray that she had taken prior to starting the CT scan, and sure enough, it showed a pin that must have been several inches long going through the top of her head. It appeared to penetrate her brain! My mother had no idea how it happened to be there. Her only guess was that it might have been a hat pin from when she was a child (those little round hats that they used pins to hold in place would have been in fashion at that time). She thought that maybe she had somehow fallen on it? At any rate it was very strange, and it did look like one of those hat pins that they would have used back then. It really threw the technician for a loop. It was decided that since the pin had been there for all those years and had caused no obvious problems, that it was best just to leave it there. My mother joked with her doctor that she was the origional "pinhead". She lived to be 90 years old.

I wish you luck with your situation, and I hope that your regular doctor can give you some insight as to what can be done to relieve your pain.
