Hey,
From two years ago and up until 6 months ago, I experienced hair loss that had no identified cause. My scalp felt swollen in some places, my hair follicals where thin, white, and brittle, and my overall hair quality was dry and limp looking. I used to have extremely thick, long hair, but within a few months more than half had shed away. Within a year I had bald patches. The dermatologist I saw said it was stress related, another suggested it was caused by an autoimmune disease, which has since been ruled out.
Only a few months ago my hair stopped falling out, it looked full and healthy again, and a good portion of it grew back. Right now its almost as thick as it was three years ago.
Since, my doctor has found a vitamin D deficiency and high androgen levels, both of which I thought could have been the cause of my previous hair loss. I have been taking vitamin D supplements, calcium and magnesium, and birth control for the past month.
I'm posting about
this now because the hair loss is happening again. My scalp feels swollen like it was, the follicals of my hair are very thin and white, and every time i run my fingers through my hair I pull out like 5-10 hairs. Oddly enough, my IBS symptoms which haven't really been a problem since my hair loss reversed itself have returned... don't know if those two could be related.
I'm totally freaking out because I do not want to lose my hair again. When this happened the last time, I tried everything to no avail: I took supplements, tried rogaine, experimented with different diets, stopped blowdrying/straightening, stopped using any hair care products, and switched to all natural glycerine shampoos/home-made shampoos. Nothing helped!
So my questions:
Is this fibro related?
Does anyone have any advice/suggestions? I'm willing to try anything!!
