Hi, Avi, and welcome! A lot of what you are describing comes with fibromyalgia. I am assuming that you have gone through a lot of testing to rule out other illnesses that have many of the same symptoms as fibro. If so, then accept the diagnosis of fibro.
Now, they don't know what causes fibro so there is no particular medication to take to cure us. All the doctors can do is give medication that helps ease the pain and symptoms...masking them but not curing them. I think this is what is happening and it's not your doctor's fault.
Become pro-active with your health. Read everything you can and search the Internet. Knowledge is power. I'm in the process of trying to get my doctor to understand why I'm going to be trying some alternative things. I agree with the members above that medication is overprescribed...in my humble opinion. I hate taking medications but I have to for some of my illnesses. But there are certain meds for fibro that I won't take. I'm a stubborn old cuss! I have an appointment today with my doctor to discuss other alternative things I found on line that I want to try but I also want to make sure they don't interact with the medications I do take. That's always important to do.
I've used ibuprofen with food for 24 years to help with the pain but developed a bleeding ulcer so I can't take that anymore. I also use extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements, and vitamin D3 supplements for the pain and fatigue. I do gentle stretching exercises, a have a daily gentle exercise (I walk daily and sometimes swim) and I have gentle massages once a month. I wish I could have them more than once but can't afford them. Chiropractics? That caused me great pain. I've read quite a few sites that tell you that this isn't suggested for fibromyalgia and some sites do BUT we do have a couple of members who do use it. So, I guess it's up to you. I did try accupuncture and all it did was empty my wallet but it could work for you. We are all so different. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. We have to hunt to see what help us.
Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good links to start with are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. You will also find the gentle stretching exercises and links about malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D3 and how these work in your body in Fibro 101. It's a good resource to use.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. I hope you have a good doctor's appointment today, too. Don't hesitate to ask us questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
