Weight gain taking Lyrica

Hi Ginny! Lyrica was a med my rheumy considered for me but I said no because of the stories I heard about weight gain....I take Savella and have been on it a couple of years with no side effects.

This Spring, I gained 20 lbs on Prednisone in a real short time span and I'm still working to get that crazy weight off.

There are members here that gained the Lyrica weight, so I know you aren't alone. Take Care and I hope you have been doing OK otherwise!

My doc told me last visit that she stopped prescribing Lyrica to her patients because all of them gained too much weight. I am so glad she is not pushing that on me.
I tried it once and had nasty side effects.

I saw my pcp yesterday and told him about the weight gain and he wants me to ultimately come off the lyrica if I gain any more weight. Right now I'm gaining 2lbs a week. He said I'll have to live with the pain rather than the weight gain. That we can find something to help with the pain instead of the lyrica. I'm playing with the dose to see if I can find a happy medium. If not, then I'll be stopping it. I'm so mad because I lost 40lbs 2 years ago and kept it off. Now I've gained almost half of it back. All because of a stupid drug.

I'm on Cymbalta as well and do like it. Much better than the zoloft I was on before!
