Cymbalta - weird effects if forget to take

Hey fellow fibromites...

Just wondering if anyone out there takes Cymbalta ( I take 30 mg daily), and if they forget to take it for a day or two when your schedule is off, if you get any weird effects?

Over the holidays I forgot to take mine for a couple of days, and I kept getting dizzy and getting these wierd buzzing shocks up my spine from my feet to my head... really a very aweful and weird feeling.  It felt like someone was zapping me with a cattle prod. shocked smhair

I'm on such a low dose daily that I was surprised to have this type of feeling after just 2 days of not taking it.  My body wasn't any more sore with the fibro for those 2 days, but I felt the effects a few days later. 

Makes me scared about negative reactions if I ever have to get off Cymbalta for any reason.  Just interested to see if anyone else has had similar experiences.

Hi there...this class of drug has to be taken on a schedule to avoid the withdrawal symptoms you describe.  You can't skip days or go up and down in dosages without being uncomfortable.  It really doesn't matter how low your dosage is...I was on half the recommended dosage for Lexapro and had the same thing happen to me.

I forgot to take it once for 2 days and all of a sudden m,y head was pounding and I felt all shakey and was soooo nauseated! I took my Cymbalta and felt better in about a 1/2 hour.

Yes I had the "brain zaps" (as I call it) after missing 2 days of cymbalta.
Also had it when I was coming off of Lexapro.
Currently I'm being wiened off the cymbalta and started Celebrex at the same time. My dr. said to take both for 5 days and then start cutting the Cymbalta down to every other day for a week.
I'm stopping the cymbalta because it definitely wasn't helping me.
Unfortunately, we need to keep trying different things 'til something helps.

i didn't take my cymbalta for two days over christmas and i got the dizzy spells!

nono  I won't be doing that again haha xxxx

Yep, the symptoms you are describing sound like the withdrawal symptoms I've experienced in the past. It's a good early warning system if you've forgotten your pill.

There's also a withdrawal symptom you didn't list that I get. I feel like I'm outside of my body looking in. It's quite freaky but it's the pain that gets me to remember that something's wrong. Half the time I'm cursing at myself that I even forgot, lol:D

Yes, the same thing happened to me when I weaned myself off of - whatever that was - oh yeah, Lyrica. And everyone said the same thing, not to worry, it's disconcerting, but that's just the way it is.

Yes it does cause weird effects!!! I was taking it and I had a stomach virus at the time. Needless to say I couldn't keep my medicine down. I started blacking out and extremely dizzy. I went to my dr and he told me it because of not keeping my cymbalta down. I took it and felt fine after it got in my system.

Yep, welcome to the withdrawal symptoms of Cymbalta.

I finally quit cymbalta a couple years ago after being on it for five years. It was a very bad couple of weeks...LOL.

I wanna thank everyone for their comments because two days ago I got a stomach virus and have been horribly ill and forgot to take my cymbalta. And I kept getting like this weird zapping in my head every like 10 seconds or so and I couldn't figure out why. Well I just did and I have to say it is really scary cus I have only been on cymbalta for about 8 months. Thanks for the help.

I have had the same symptoms coming off Cymbalta, even with a titrated dose (a little less each day). Try not to forget to take it…and if you ever go off it, be ready for some weeks of not feeling well (for me it was actually months.)
