Need help finding doctor

Hello im needing help finding a pain  management doctor in the texarkana area. Does any one see any one up this way that can refer me to some one.

Hi, Tired, and welcome!  Do you have fibro?  There are some great doctors out there that treat fibromyalgia but you need to ask before you make an appointment.  Otherwise, you are just wasting your time.  Many here use a rheumatologist but I use a board certified Internist who is also a Diplomate.  They can help you with the pain.  If you have fibro, don't expect to be pain-free.  But you can get in control of the pain and have a full and enjoyable life in spite of it.

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Good starting links are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  You might see yourself there.  There is also a link in Fibro 101 called Finding a Fibro Doctor.  This might be helpful for you.

I think all of us have struggled to find a doctor who cares, believe and is educated in fibro. Alot of us here use a rheumy, my family doc is pretty good and lets me research and make suggestions...so it is not so much what kind of doc as who that doctor is sometimes.

Good pain docs are hard to find here in Mississippi but finally found one an hour away. My sleep study doc gave me a list of pain docs in area...alot are not taking new patients, others it takes awhile to get in...so the sooner the better...you can always look in the yellow pages for a name and I use a site called healthgrades.com which gives basic info and patient reviews.

Yes i have fibro an lymes but i think it has been lymes all alomg an they refused to test me cause i was bitten in Waco an the docs kept saying that's not the right area an the doc i have bee seeing for the last 6 years finally tested me a year ago an it came out positive. I was diga with fibro 2004 was bit by tick in 97. Nice to meet you all as well an hope to become very good chat buddys :0) i could use a friend are 2.


Hydro. baclofen,oxy that's just for pain an the list goes on as for other health issues 7 in morning not including pain meds 2 at night.

Hello Tired,

I have had a lot of problems finding a pain doctor. It took me about 10 doctors to finally find the one I have who happens to specialize in Fibromyalgia and internal medicine. I agree bayoub2, it depends on WHO the doctor is, because let's face it, some doctors just don't care. I recommend getting a list of specialists from your doctor. I hope you find a good doctor, that makes all the difference.
