HI everyone,  new to forum and was hoping there were some DFW people here.  I moved from Tampa, FL in August.

I think this is the Dallas-Fort Worth area, right?  No, I don't live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  I live in Tampa!  LOL  But, we are here for you no matter where in the world you live.  Welcome, by the way!  I'm so glad you found us and joined the family. 

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Good starting links are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  You just might see yourself there.

Yes it is Dallas Fort Worth :) Thank you so much. Had my first appt with the Rheumatologist today and I am not happy. She is reffereing me to a Therapist and Physical Therapist, she wants to see me back in 3 months. That seems so long. Is that normal. Did not Dx anything today :(

Welcome here. It usually takes months and sometimes years to get a proper diagnoses. Make sure your Dr. Believes in fibro and treats others with fibro. Give them a chance to look over your lab work. You want to feel comfortable and trust your Dr. Make sure you read up on fibro and other possible diagnoses. When you go back have questions ready for your Dr. If your not comfortable with your new Dr. there are always others. Finding the right Dr. can be challenging. Don't give up, help out there!

I think I would find another rheumatologist...one that treats fibromyalgia patients.  Be sure to ask that before you make an appointment.  There are some rheumies that are still in the Dark Ages.  Your doctor, in not so many words, is saying she thinks it's all in your head by sending you to a therapist and to physical therapy.  It's like "Take one aspirin and I'll see you in three months."  The physical therapy might help but we've had plenty of members that tried that and it didn't help.  They can make you do things that aren't gentle and cause more pain.

 

By the way, was any blood work ordered?  That's the first step usually used in trying to find out what is going on.  If no blood work was ordered, I certainly wouldn't darken her doorstep again.  This is just my opinion and what I would do.

Yes my PCP ordered a ton of blood work. Everything came back negative or normal. She tested for all sorts of Auto-immune disorders. My Rheumie did not see those tests yet and she said call back in 2 weeks to make sure there isnt anything else I need to be checked for.
