Thanks all for your replies, I cant get over how active this forum is.
@Mrs P. I'm so glad to hear that you have had long term relief. Its good to hear that it does happen, I've read so many posts from people that say it wore off after a few months to 8 months. Long may it last, for anyone on meds for FM. The weight gain is mad. Up until I was diagnosed I had lost 4 stone in a couple of years. i couldnt eat much becuase off the abdominal pain, I was actually scared to eat most of the time becuase I would rather go hungry for a few days than deal with the pain. Now I am putting on the weight like you couldnt believe, I'm eating before and after me
@TiredArtist. I thought the zaps were FM, I used to get them a while back too, especially when I didnt get enough sleep. Its the weirdest thing when you go to raise your arm and you get a zap and the whole hand jerks.
@getting by. Thanks a million for clearing up the finger question, my wife (yes! I'm a man
The Mayo handle is from County Mayo in Ireland, where I grew up.) always laughs at me when every now and then I say that my fingers are more "bendy". I thought it was arthritis but i dont have any more pain in those fingers than the rest. Thanks and I certainly will keep posting. Now that I know whats going on with my body I'm glad to help anyone I can.
@Marrit - I started on 2 X 25mg a day and after 2 days added another 25mg in the evening dose. Then after a couple of days added 25mg to the mornnig dose and 25 to the evening. I kept doing this for a while until I eventually got to a high dose. I'm now on 225mg in the mornning and 225mg in the evening. I was very spaced out and quesy, even on the low does, until I got used of it (I still am if I have a few glasses of wine
). It was only when I hit the 450mg that I got the most from them. I dont seem to have as many bad days I found that aswell as pain relief my sinuses, eye sight, improved. I have had blocked sinuses since I was 13, every day, until now. Like I've read in a good few posts Lyrica might not be the right one for you. Perhaps see what other people have found relief from and go back to your Doctor to discuss. I wish youu the best of luck and hope you find "the one" soon.
@janni - Sorry to hear it has gotten worse, hang in there and keep trying different things. When my abdominal pains were at there worst I found Slippery elm made like porridge (not the capsules) and peppermint was a great help. Better than anything else I was perscribed, for what was at the time diagnosed as severe IBS. I know what you mean about
the feet. That aching throbbing pain and the heat. My wife loves to go to a big furniture store at least once a month and always wants me to go with her. I last about
10 minutes before my feet are aching and I usually just wait in the car. Saves on arguments too
. Its really hard to walk from the bed to the shower the next morning, takes ages and its only a few feet. Try soaking your feet in really hot water at night, as hot as you can manage, with epsom salts for as long as you can. Used to work for me and I'd get have a good sleep. I've started drinking juice with apple cider vinengar, its supposed to help with muscle pain but I can't really tell becuase of Lyrica. I'm sure there are lots of people that have tried alternative remedies on this forum. It migth be better to start a new post to see what replies you get. Anyway I hope you find somehting that works and quickly.
Thats the most typing I've done in ages, and I would in IT
. Thanks again everyone.
