So Sad

I just wanted you all to know that my beautiful dog Sabra died today.  She was a ball of energy up until last weekend and then went down fast.  She has been at the vet's nearly every day this week and I took her again this morning and she was hospitalized.  When they started working on her, she died.  I allowed the vet to do an autopsy because we didn't have a clue what could have happened to her that quickly and it was discovered that she had cancer of the liver and spleen.  Both organs were loaded with it.

 

I have prayed many times that I would never have to put her to sleep and the Lord honored that.  Also, she didn't suffer and was comfortable until the end of her life.  Of course, I'm extremely sad and I'll miss my constant companion of 15 years.  She was one of the last things my husband bought for me and what a gift she turned out to be.

Oh Sherrine,
I'm so sorry! I was crying reading that. Pets become such a big part of our lives and hearts. I'm glad she won't suffer and that you didn't have to make that decision. Wishing you comfort during this difficult time.

Oh Sherrine, I'm so sorry. 15 years is a long time to grow attached, so this has got to be hard.

But as you said, she was comfortable up until the end. Thinking of you....

So very sad to hear this. It's not fair they don't get to live as long as we do! I know you will miss her. :-(

My dear Sherrine,

I am so terribly sorry to hear about you losing your beautiful little girl. I have enjoyed your stories about her thru the yrs. I saw a little Havenese puppy several months ago in a pet store. I was so excited to see a 'real' one, I pictured your Sabra looking just like this baby girl.

Thankfully, she didn't suffer. I believe she is at peace now. I also believe all our darling puppies will be waiting for us, someday.

I know how much you loved her and how much she loved you. What a blessing that she came into your life when she did. Trev came into my life when I hit my lowest point, I believe he saved me.

I wish I could give you a hug, know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Try to get some rest tonight, I don't want you to get sick.

I am so sorry to hear this! And what a shock to you, coming this quickly. At least you will hold sweet memories of her, not ones of her being sick, or like you said, having to make the choice to put her down. I'm sure you dh will be taking care of her now.

RIP Sabra. Hugggss Sherrine. I too think of my animals as my children! Its so sad that she died the way she did. When I had to put down Sneakers my kitty (he was in a coma and there was no hopes of recovery because of how sick he got from that poisoned cat food when there was that massive pet food recall a few years ago) I talked my vet into letting me hold Sneakers while sitting on the bench outside of the vet office as he was living his last moments. Sneakers died in my arms with the sun shining down on him and birds a chirping and me saying how much I loved him. It was so hard to do that, but if it were me I'd want the one I love holding me. I burried Sneakers at my folk's place in front of a bush and next to the Forget-Me-Nots flowers facing the pond with fish and bird families home up in a tree that was behind the bush. I like to think he's chasing the birdies and trying to catch those fish now. You hang in there Sherrine! Huggggssss

ps.. my latest burrial was the fish. i was going to go for the "under the sea" and down the toilet, but the kids had another mind. I had to have fish funerals. So the fish are burried under the rose bushes at my parents house. And one fish even had surgery to save his life before he died a year later. I honestly swear we will do the craziest things for kids sometimes, like funerals for fish and surgeries on GOLD fish!

((hugs my friend)) I know losing a beloved pet is like losing a family member. Sabra is now in doggie heaven romping with the other pups. Hang in there; the pain will ease every day but you will always miss her absence. She had a good life with you as her master. I know you loved her dearly and she knew it too.

Sherrine, I agree that you should let your tears flow...they will stop when it is time.

I believe our"babies" are with us in spirit and we will someday be reunited. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
