Topical antiinflammatory

I went to the Dr. Yesterday because my bursitis in my hips were pain. I couldn't get the shot or take steroids right now due to other medical reasons. So he gave me an antiinflammatory cream to use on my hips. I was first skeptical, but they are so much better today. I have put in on about 5 times already. The name of the ointment is voltaren gel 1 percent. It saves my stomach because I was taking so much ibprophen before. I feel so much better now and hopefully it will continue for my plane ride. I thought others might find this ointment helpful. Ask your Dr. For some samples to try.

Oh drat!! My hubby is using it on his incredibly swollen hands and wrists and he is so happy with it. I am going to read about it right now...

I was prescribed Diclofenac (I think the generic name for Voltarin?) for pain in my hands and wrists a couple years ago now. I never used it for that since you have to use it over a long term to really feel effects and the pain was intermittent. Also, it feels horrible on the hands :P

But I keep getting the prescription filled for bursitis in my shoulders, my bum knee and now also use it effectively for my elbows. I never realized you could have the same side effects as NSAIDs! The article I read says the probability is low, but possible.
Good to know, so if I see signs of internal bleeding again, I may know the cause.

btw, yes, it works wonders for inflamation. I'd hate to have to stop that too.
