very bad day

today has been a very bad day emotionally, we had a funeral today for a young husband/father- he was 37, a police officer .  He had an auto accident on his way to work the other night.  He started his career in town here where my husband is a police officer, and then went to the Sheriff's dept, and then to a larger city but still lived here.  Needless to say, there were over 300 police there.  It was a very moving funeral, and very long.  All funerals are hard, especially when they leave 3 small children behind.  Funerals for policemen are 10x more emotional, with the bag pipes when they carried the casket to the hearse, with all 300 police men and women standing at attention when the family came out.  The department where he was working had 150 police show up and they stood at attention in their pews and aisles until it was time to start.  I was able to sit with my husband and the rest of the local police department, but it is a little weird to walk out with them before the family is dismissed so they could get into formation.  And of course the cemetery is worse with the 21 gun salute, the folding of the flag, and the last roll call over the police radio.  It is a reminder of what I can go thru at any time.  It was 2 hours and 15 minutes long.  It took several hours afterward for my hands to stop shaking and my legs to feel like they would support me.  So of course it is a bad night, with pain, all over, including my left ear (outer) which is part of the face/jaw pain.  Just never had the pain on my ear before.  And no, there hasn't been much sleep lately since we found out about the accident.  They called the house at 10:30 the night it happend, I was almost asleep, didn't get any that night.  So many tears.  So many emotions.  And as bad as I feel, it can't even come close or compare to what his wife must be feeling and going thru.  I will gladly accept the pain that fibro throws at me and be able to kiss my husband each night as he go to work, and then again when he comes home in the morning.

I too am so very sorry for your loss and heartache. Loss of such wonderful community members as those who protect the rest of us just seems a bit harder on us that others. Please know that you are thought of during this time of mourning and that I have said a prayer for you tonight for peace in your heart.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.  It has to be terribly difficult because your husband in an officer, too.  It brings it too close to home.  I hope you are doing a little better now.

 

We are all thankful for the special individuals that put their lives on the line daily to help protect our freedoms.  The families sacrifice a lot for this also so that makes you, and other members of families, very special also.  You and the officer's family will be in my prayers.

thanks everyone, I appreciate all the kind words, and prayers. My faith is strong, as is my husbands. Last night even with the ambien I woke up every hour, so today wasn't too good, legs still not wanting to support me. Takes a little more time to process things said at work, etc... but had dog class tonight ( I help train dogs) and that always comforts and helps- it can make me more sore with all the excercise I get with them, getting down on the floor, back up, down again, repeat.... but I also look at it as keeping me active too. And I get lots of kisses. 2 classes with 9 dogs in each class. Maybe I can dream of puppies tonight
