Some people are just natural "touchers" it seems. I'm not really a touchy-feely person, but I'm not sure how much of that is personality and how much of that developed as a result of fibro and my other pain issues. A friend of mine (who also has fibro) used to tease me, good natured teasing, about
being a "side hugger." Whenever anyone aside from my family starts to hug me, I always turn it into a side by side one arm around the back hug. Much less painful and invasive.
I also find that many people, especially men, shake hands way too hard. We used to have a moment every Sunday at church when everyone shook hands. We have a new pastor who doesn't do that, and actually I'm relieved. Sometimes I would have to excuse myself before it started just to avoid the pain.
Hopefully, applevenus, if you go to lunch with this group again, you can sit at least an arm's length away from this "very friendly" lady.
