I understand exactly what you are saying.
Really dislike taking as many meds that I do, but have conditions that warrant some type of med intervention. The side effects of some meds are enough to scare anyone and I'm in between a rock and a hard place. Lately my liver enzymes have been sky high, med doses have been lowered and something will flare as a result of a lower dose. When you have crazy autoimmune stuff going on (MCTD) , you have your blood monitored often because these meds are toxic. Until they find cures...options are very limited. I do worry...what is worse? the med or the disease.
More than likely, I would be taking more if I wasn't as proactive as I am. I exercise on a regular basis, doing walking and gentle stretching. Also do relaxation therapy...meditation, deep breathing, and visulization. I aso use heat often to soothe my achy muscles. My diet is pretty well balanced with the exception of the occasional Milky Way candy bar. Eat lots of fruit and veggies along with lean protein.
For Fibro, I'm on Savella, 50mgs 2x daily, take a muscle relaxer, flexeril as needed....Vitamin D3 1000-2000 IU's daily, B-12..5000mcgs daily and take a good multi vitamin.
Hopefully, one day there will be a cure for everything and none of us will have to pop these pills.
Hugs, Robin
