Long term disability through work

I have it thru work. but I am in Canada... I keep it till I am 65
I just need one of my doctors to fill out a form each year and send it to my ins. company.. this year so far they did not ask... Yet..  I was accepted right away.

they will not take me off it.. I am on it for good now..

also I am on the provincial dis. too  and they accepted me right away.

this happened two years after the private kicked in

it is divided between the two of them...

so far they havent asked for docs to do forms..
just had to do that once.

ak angel, if a person doesn't have private insurance at work.. they go for provincial only. and doesnt mean they will get accepted right aways.

I worked for 15 years at the same place and I had priv. ins. there . and my boss and our director also helped me optain it.. with letters.... and such..

I had full support of my boss for this.

not everyone who applies for priv. ins. disability gets it the first time out like I did..

first I had to leave my job. go on sick leave unemployment, and then apply a few weeks later for priv. ins. dis. and then I did get it.

two years later like I said I had to go for provincial and because i already
was accepted full disability from the private the provincial accepted me right away.

maybe someone here in the USA could tell you more.

are you on short term. disability./??? or are you still working. my brain is fried with pain today and I don't remember..

Starry eyes- I live in the US and have social security disability and long term disability through my old work place. I have been getting long term for 3 years. I was just wanting to know how long others were able to keep theirs going. They having different rules from social security. I am up for more paper work to be turned in July by my Dr's. Just seeking more info on it.
