Could fibromayalgia really be celiac disease?

Apparently a relative of his had been diagnosed with fibro and then was later diagnosed with Celiac Disease and told she didn't have fibro at all.  Also, when she modified her diet to a non-gluten diet her pain and fatigue disappeared.  (which is of course what would happen if a person really had celiac instead of fibro)

Have any of you ever heard of this kind of thing? I'm going to do some research and ask my doctor too. Wouldn't that be something to find out it's a food alergy rather than fibro? 

Well, I did try it and it didn't work for me. But maybe there are subsets of fibro, caused my different things - who the heck knows? Definitely worth looking into.

I'm going on three weeks gluten-free. It has does wonders for my guts but nothing for the pain, so far.

There is much TA DO, about gluten these days. Its very misunderstood. Celiac is not Fibro. A lot of people with Fibro are being told to stop eating gluten as a treatment. I have had Fibro 5 years. When I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease, my Dr. had me eliminate gluten. I did this for about 18 months. When I look back at it, I realized I never felt better, but I was not doing it necessarily for Fibro it was in hopes it would help to heal my thyroid. My Dr. suspected another auto-immune problem when my knee swelled up like a balloon. I was extremely painful, it ached constantly and I could hardly walk for several months. I was so scared, I thought I was about to be in a wheel chair or at the very least need a cain. At that time, I also went off corn, soy and eggs. None of this was helping. My Dr. suggested I have a IgG food panel. A test for 115 different types of food allergy. After months of no gluten, corn, soy and eggs the test showed I was not allergic to gluten or any of these foods! It was Dairy. I also can not eat pineapple or banana. I went off Dairy and my knee slowly got better. It took about 3 months. If I eat dairy, my knee will begin to ache. Celiac is an extreme allergy to gluten. While I was off gluten and the other foods I did a ton of research about foods allergies. A lot of the time people go a long not knowing what may be causing their symptoms. Food allergies can be the root of many illnesses. I have eaten dairy all my life and I would have never dreamed my knee problem was from eating cheese, milk, whey, etc. I was shocked and wondered how long my body had been fighting this. When I learned I was not allergic to any of these foods I began to eat them again with out any noticeable difference in how I felt. Since, our Dr. has discovered my husband has a gluten sensitivity. He stopped eating gluten and with in 1 week his digestion improved. He was amazed. If one has a problem with gluten you will be able to tell the difference. And as one person wrote, going off is the easiest way to find out.

Hi all- I'm new to the board. I was diagnosed with fibro last week. I found this post interesting because I was tested for Celiac disease first. My doctor was sure that I had it - almost 100% sure by my symptoms etc. But the blood test & biopsy were negative. I'll I had was an allergy to wheat, corn, & soy. So I cut it all out of my diet yet I was still having the migraines and horrible body pain. From what I've read food insensitivities are all part of having fibro.
