I have always burised easily, but this one has me stumped.
about 11/2 weeks ago, i had taken my daycare kids out in the yard to blow bubbles and use sidewalk chalk. I sat under the tree in the shade, watching and talking to them. Nothing strenuous. They went home. I went inside to take a shower. While showering, this huge, purple bruise began forming just above the elbow on the inside of my right arm. This went all the way across the inside, and probably about 3 inches going up. It also had a very large painful knot in it that was about as big as the purple area. The thing that concerned me is that I have no idea how I got it. The following day, the swelling had extended to the outside of the elbow, moving downward. At that point, i went to the ER.
The doctor at the ER seemed stumped, also. Clotting tests, etc were perfect. He finally pronounced it a bruise or a spider bite. Since I live in an area of the midwest where poisonous spiders are not common, I doubt that it is the latter. They asked that I follow up with my MD, which I am doing later today.
Does anyone else have this problem? In the past, I could attribute most of my bruises to bumps, falls, etc. However, I have no Idea on this one . Given the size of this bruise, I would think that I would have known if it were due to trauma. Is
just another strange fibro symptom?
