Hi, Karen, and welcome! What you are going though is not typical for fibromyalgia. Is the pancreatitis causing you the biggest chunk of your pain? If it IS fibro that is causing you the worst pain, I do suggest that you get out of bed and start moving...walking and doing stretching exercises. I know, it hurts. But you actually are causing more pain by being so sedentary! Once you get up and loosened up, you will do better. After all, as you said, that's no way to live your life!
No one....I mean NO ONE should have to suffer like you are describing. Obviously the Tramadol isn't working for you. I was having extreme pain and tried Tramadol and when that didn't work I tried Vicodin. That didn't work either so I headed to a rheumatologist for the very first time. I found out I had another illness that was causing me this intense pain. I was put on ibuprofen with food and a muscle relaxer and the vast majority of the pain is now gone! Such simple treatment made all the difference in me. (I couldn't walk because of raw nerve pain shooting down both legs.) So, please get another opinion. What you are doing isn't helping you.
Have you seen a rheumatologist for fibro? Have the doctors taken a myriad of tests to rule out other illnesses that have the same symptoms as fibro? I'm asking this because we did have a member who was diagnosed with fibro and kept getting worse and worse. It turned out she really had Lyme disease! Lupus, and other illness have many of the same symptoms as fibro so you do want a thorough doctor checking you out. If I were you, I'd definitely get a second opinion.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good starting links are called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. This might give you a better idea of what is going on with you.
It's difficult when suffering with chronic pain, but do try to find the positive things in your life. I know they are there. All you have to do is look around you and you will see them! There is a good link to an article about maintaining a positive attitude on Fibro 101. Having a positive outlook has helped me as much as any medication for fibro.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
