Good fibro dr. in South Florida?

It has been a long time since I checked in on this message board. Partly out of denial, and partly because I am so busy and doing all I can to get by each day while feeling so horribly.  I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any new developments in the medical community about fibro. I also wanted to see if any one knows of a great dr. who is familiar with fibromyalgia in the South Florida area?

Dr Johnson is great! She is in port St Lucie some days and Jensen beach some. How far, south are you?

I'm in west central around Tampa, so no help there. Would suggest you find a pain management or rhumey. When you call, ask if doc treats fibro. If no, keep looking. I see a pain management doc. He is a keeper!

Dr Johnson treats fibro, she is a family Dr but has definitely done her homework on fibro! If I go in and say OK so this how this past month went she has answers that work !!!! The Dr office is Family heart and health institute, if all their drs are as good and knowledgeable as she is maybe there is on in your area!

She sounds like a great doctor, dustinshunny. I am in the Miami area. I have seen many doctors, of all specialties, and have yet to find one that seems to understand the nuances of fibromyalgia, not to mention many don't believe in it at all. The search goes on! :)

I spoke to my Dr and she said she doesn't know any drs out of our area that treat fibro, but if they do and you look on the net they should advertise they do! I am sorry I didn't have more for you

I'm in the Miami area, and I see Dr. Oberstein in Aventura, I am brand new to the diagnosis, but she certainly seems to know her stuff. My pcp referred her to me.

Amy - I called today and made an appointment. I have seen so many doctors down here. Hopefully this one knows her stuff and can help me. Thanks again! Maybe I'll see you in the waiting room one day ;)

Awesome Andrea! Maybe.. :) I go today at 2:30.. lol. I certainly hope she is able to help you. She is the doctor that made my diagnosis, I've seen her for two months. . - i don't really have much to compare to, but hopefully she will work for you. :) Good luck!
