Hi ! I'm 48 and have been diagnosed with FM since 2000. I have been raising my 2 toddler grandchildren with my DH of 25 yrs.  Both children have  special needs and are a handful to care for ugh !!!. I have been on sevilla for about a year and have noticed that any kind of blowing sensation on my skin drives me BATTY !!!! smhair    It can be as simple as a breeze or as strong as a fan or air conditioner and I cringe . Has anyone else experienced this ? I think I have not noticed it before due to the fact I was on pain meds.

Welcome Iamadoll to the fibro forum. It sounds like you are a very busy person. Having to help raise the Grand kids must be very challenging, especially with special needs. As you know stress can cause fibro to flare and keep you in discomfort. The skin becomes even more senstive with high levels of stress. When I am in the shower using a wash cloth, it makes my skin hurt. I look for soft material when buying my clothing.

What things are you trying to keep your fibro under control? I use to be so miserable with my fibro, until I found this forum. I learned how to mangage my fibro so much better. Having the support on this site made a big difference too. Your not feeling alone in this world. Feel free to ask questions or if your day is not so good let us support you.

H, Iamadoll, and welcome!  This sounds like parathesia...a side effect of fibro.  It also can be a side effect of Savella so you may have a double whammy there!  Here is a link explaining parathesia and you will see that fibromyalgia is a possible cause.

If this is really bothering you, you might want to discuss this with your doctor.  I has to be quite uncomfortable.  You might try unscented lotions to help calm things down.

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Good starting links are called Symptoms and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  I know you've had fibro for 12 years but I've had it a long time too and am still learning things about this illness.

Cold hurts me like a/c when I have a flair up, and also my skin hurts like needles poking it, other than feeling bruised all the time . That's all I seem to deal with myself.

I have issues with cold and extreme heat. Cold makes my skin hurt, like I am one big bruise. Heat, makes me feel like all of my joints are swelling. I literally have a 3 degree safe zone. Crazy? I constantly keep sweaters and jackets (all cozy comfort) - as my mom used to say.. and I try not to get overly heated.. (hard in Florida) lots of fluids and minimal sun exposure on extremely hot days.

Ac does this to me, particularly when sitting near a vent.
Turn down the air and reposition the fan.
