Today I called my doctor after several months of morning pain that has caused me to be late to work or have to call in sick. My doctor has been treating me with several meds but lately my morning pain is very severe. It takes me about
2 hours before I can move enough to even get in the shower. My doctor agreed that FMLA would be good at this point so I don't loose my job.
I emailed our HR and asked for the paperwork and they still have not responded to my request. I read about it in our policies and it states that they may offer a change in my work scheduale instead of FMLA. If they let me come in later that will help but I'm worried about my days off. Once I have exhausted my sick days I don't want my job to be at risk. Can they deny me the paperwork? I thought they had to give it to me? It isn't available on our website so I have to have them send it to me. I'm not an hourly employee and I stay late every night and work from home on the weekends so this more than makes up for coming in late. I also get all my work done and my supervisor often ask me to mentor other employees. I have a tendancy to be impatient but I don't understand why my request just was ignored. The HR person was there that day as other emails were sent out from her to all employees for other issues but she didn't even reply to mine. This is frustrating and frankly it was rude of her to not even acknowledge receipt of the request. Do they have the right to refuse me and if so what should I do?
