Whoooo Boy!!!! Look out!!!  We know fibro fog is bad enough, but add chemo brain to it, I just need to stay home.  I'd heard about it.  Knew I had about 2 hours after the treatment to get home.  UmmHmm.  Not gonna happen to ME!  I'm special. Riiiiiiggggttthh.  I'm so special I even agreed to watch my 4 yo grandson for 2 1/2 days.

So I picked him up, got a pizza, and that's the last thing I really remember for 4 days.  Thank goodness pa pa was home to take care of us, because I couldn't have done it.  It wasn't just not knowing what I was doing, IF I was doing, it was flat out scarey!

Then I had to go back the next day for an injection they warned me was rough.  They weren't kidding.  We just think we are fatigued from fibro.  My days consisted of moving from bed, to recliner, to bathroom, just sleep.  Awful.

When I was still doing testing, the medical oncologist looked me in the eye and said you WILL loose your hair.  I will write you an rx for a wig, your insurance will cover it.  When I'd had time to digest all of that appt, I started laughing.  I said I'd take Spookie to the groomer, get her hair cut off, and make a wig for me from her fur so we'd match.

So now I want to make a Tshirt.  How does: I have Fibro Fog

Oh, man, I feel for you so much. I lol'd at the Spookie wig. I wish you a lot of luck with it all!

Spookie- when I hear stories with people going through chemo I have no reason to complain of my wimpy problems. It makes me reevaluate life some.

Oh wow! That would be really freaky, not remembering 4 whole days! So you were more or less sleepwalking, or might as well have been?

Glad you can laugh at the prospect of losing your hair - the healthiest policy! Good for you! And Spookie, of course, won't care a whit whether it's purple, green, or gone. Animals - the greatest friends :)

Spookie, I'm so sorry you are going through this.  Yes, I probably would have had the same attitude as you did, too!  :-)    That's not a bad thing either.  Keeping positive does help.  It will help you more when the effects of the chemo wear off. 

 

Meanwhile, do rest and let your body heal.  Then you can go out for pizza with the grandchildren and feel great! 

 

I'll be praying for your complete recovery.

Spookie, I'm so sorry that you are going through this. May I ask...what kind of cancer are you dealing with?.

You have a wonderful attitude and inspire me!!! I also will be praying that you have a complete recovery.

I love the idea for the t-shirt, made me lol. I tried to keep my grandkids last week and had a melt down. I had put the 3 year old down for a nap 5 times. He was yelling, screaming, crying and calling "grandmama, grandmama, grandmama......" over and over and over again. I thought to myself I understand how some people hurt children, I just wanted to shake him. I was SO mad, I stared crying and called my daughter, I guess she could hear it in my voice. She said she would call a friend to come take over for me. These melt downs are coming more often, I am going to call the doctor if things don't settle down. I'm taking like a dozen meds, just for depression and fibro, and nothing is really helping the fibro. Well here I am venting again cause I have lost the life I had. Sorry, rambeling! I wish you a quick recovery and maybe just visit the grandkids for now, you need to focus your energy on getting well.

So sorry to hear you are having to deal w/ this. I like your sense of humor, it will help you at difficult times.

My DM & DF both had cancer. When my DM was dx they told her to go get a wig, too. She asked me to take her shopping for some pretty scarves. She planned to use them w/ the idea she would gradually lose her hair. THEN she would see about a wig. My DM never' lost' her hair. She did shed some of it, but not much more than you might brush out in a day. She ended up wearing her scarves around her neck w/ her pretty outfits. She was scared when she first heard the dx, but she was a very determined woman w/ great faith - a great sense of humor.

I think the t-shirt sounds like a great idea!!  Too funny :))

I have breast cancer. I thought about crawling in a corner with a blanket over my head to cry, but I'd never get back up! Too many creaky joints.

So I did get a wig, never had one before. It's a little grayer than real, short, and was covered 100%. Except this is Florida and its sauna season now and that sucker is gonna be HOT! A nice nurse came by with a basket of really pretty hand knit hats, would I like one? Well, maybe if I lived in Anartica!

I've ordered a pink ball type hat that will say No Hair Day.

I'm losing it! I thought I had posted, swore I posted a reply and I guess I didn't.


Spookie, I have chemo too and fibro hon. Wigs, Wigs, I got them too, and scarfs I um wrap wrap tie knot tuck head thing , and fuzzy hats hehe. I have a tumor lodged behind my eye, left side.

My son has learned "when momma has hair I can pull it off while she's talking to people" and usually gets some great reactions from people! When I am out somewhere, have a blonde moment I say "I'm having a blonde moment sorry... no I'm having a bald moment" and pull off my wig. Around the house, my parents too I run around baldie.

I thought about taking a black marker and drawing hair on me... but I thought it would look tackier than I already am. Here's how bad it is - Jeans, jeans jeans I am. The other day I was standing talking to a friend at the bus station and of course, I opted no jeans, nice capri slacks and a pretty bright speghetti tank top. Anyhow, another friend walks past me, didnt even say hi. I'm like "that is odd" so I said "Hi Dan, how ya doing?" he stops, looks around, spots me with a moment of "who is that" on his face, then it clicked and he goes "oh hey I didn't recognize you" so I smacked him on the shoulder and gave him a hug. Then we 3 got all talking on the corner at the bus station with everyone around us just keep looking our way. It dawned on me today, that no wonder why they kept watching us -- we were talking about the Muslim on the News thats in the ARMY and court martialed for a having a beard and what he could hide in a beard. Don't ask me anything else, cuz I don't remember the rest.
