Huh?

I am having a kind of odd issue. Not sure what to make of it at this point. At least 1 night a week, I don't sleep. I take my pills as the doctor has told me to. I even take a pill for headaches that's suppose to help me sleep. Does this happen to anyone else?

I have also noticed something new for me. I feel this complusion to keep moving my legs. I could be in so much pain that I want to cry but I just feel like I need to keep moving. Does this happen to any one else? Or am I mist going crazy?

It might be that you have Restless Leg Syndrome.  I have it...my legs get a crawling sensation and I have this constant urge to move them around.  Many people with fibro have this disorder also.  Some medications we take for other issues make it worse.

Yep...definitely sounds like RLS...I actually developed this my first time around taking Flexeril back when I was first diagnosed with Fibro. Thankfully since I started taking this again the last two years it hasn't happened.

I just caution you speak with the Dr. to make sure that you are allowed to take all your medication that have sedating features to them right before bed. Some people have accidentally overdosed/had respiratory failure because they use other meds "off label" for sleep and take them all together at night and they don't "seem" sedating but then it can hit your bloodstream all at once.

So...as long as your Dr. has prescribed all these meds to be taken at this time and your Pharmacist is also aware of this since they are even more knowledgeable about all the side effects of meds.

I space out all my meds as I am on pain meds for my spine issues, a muscle relaxer, and a sleep medication. I never take them at the same time. They are all within 5 hours of each other and the sleep med being the last one right before bed time.

I also go for a nightly walk with my dog a few hours before bed. This helps me get more tired for bed since it's a slow walk that doesn't really raise my metabolism. So as mentioned, this may also help with the RLS for you.

Also make sure on the nights you are having trouble falling asleep that you haven't had any caffeine past 3 pm, that you haven't had a really big dinner or with anything spicy to keep you up. That your room is 68 degrees or cooler to promote good sleep. That every single light is off, even the computer, phone, etc. And then there are many natural supplements that help with sleep like melatonin. But still run these by your Pharmacist before taking..

I use to have RLS issues. I heard it can be caused from sitting too much?

Some nights I sleep better than others, it depends how active I've been and/or what I ate that day.

I take sleep supplements for sleeping. I tried sleep medications and they caused me to feel groggy the next day and I only had about 5 hrs. of sleep max. What's nice about my sleep supps is I can take more during the night.
