I have vertigo but it is extreme, had to hospitalized for 30 hours.  All vital signs were great.  Just want to know if anyone can share any information with me and their experience and help. Thanks.

Hi, Donna.

Welcome. I'm assuming you have fibro? Take a look at "Fibro 101," first thread on the list. I believe vertigo is on the list, though I wouldn't swear it. I know dizziness and balance problems are.

That sounds awful - I do have vertigo, not to the extent you mentioned, though. I can't turn my head in a moving vehicle, swing on a swing, ride a bike, or even look at stripes and other geometrics (!) sometimes. So I do feel for you.

I wake up dizzy most mornings. I'll be sitting still in a chair and get to spinning for a few seconds. Sometimes I'll get up from a sitting position and lose my balance and have to sit back down quickly (almost fall down in the seat.)

Hi Donna,

I have vertigo which comes and goes in severity. At it's worst so far I will get dizzy upon standing, bending over or moving my head side to side. I have even (and actually am now) had episodes where I get a rush of dizziness while sitting still.

I hope you can find something to help with your extreme vertigo. My doctor suggested the over the counter sea sickness medication, but I didn't want another thing to make me sleepy!

Hey donna, sorry to hear that you are having to battle this. I understand some. I have the just off the roller coaster from he11 feeling most times. turning is a pain. I turn with my eyes closed when it is worsening. I have been to the point where I couldnt lift nor turn my head without getting sick. It seems worse when I am in a deep fatigue flare. I try to get more sleep when it is worse. Looking up is a super bad thing. I was concerned that this could be a ms flag and that I might need screening.

I get attacks of vertigo also but I have Menieres Disease.  It is accompanied with ringing or stuffed ears, headache and nausea.  Salt, MSG and nitrates can trigger it as well is some visual stimuli. 

It might be good if you went to an ENT doctor and got tested for this as Menieres leads to deafness.  There is also a condition called Benign Positional Vertigo which is dizziness caused by moving your head in different positions.  The inner ear is usually the culprit when it comes to vertigo...many things can cause it including something as simple as an infection or ear wax.

Hope you get some answers...vertigo is nasty!
