Please remember (and I will remind myself too) to phrase comments, questions, suggestions, in a positive, supportive manner. It is very difficult to convey emotion and intent over the internet, and it takes a lot of effort. Most of us have been misinterpreted at one time or another, unfortunately.
Questions/comments like:
"Why don't people just do........?"
"I don't understand why others do/don't........"
"I think people should try X instead of Z."
"If you do what I do, you will feel better."
"EVERYONE should do X,Y, or Z"
"What you are doing is wrong; you should try......."
while written with the best of intentions can be hurtful and spirit crushing, especially to the newly diagnosed or new members.
I think it is helpful to phrase things in such a manner:
"This is what I tried, and it helped me."
"Have you given any consideration to or tried X,Y,Z?"
"I have a different plan, regimen, etc., and I hope what you try works for you."
"I use supplements A, B, and C, and I get them at SuperMart. They help me with ........"
"I have found this exercise/vitamin/food to be most beneficial for me, it MIGHT be helpful for you."
and sometimes, the best response can just be:
"I hear you. You have my support."
When I first joined HW I felt so supported. Lately, I often leave here feeling rankled, stressed, or upset. I don't know if the board has changed or if I have, but I just would love to see the criticism (perhaps I'm the pot calling the kettle black here) and the judgement toned down a bit. Just my two cents, which weren't asked for and probably aren't worth much. :)
